    Question Pachinko Current Draw

    Friends:

The question … How much current does a Pachinko machine draw? I know the size of the transformer but, does my 5 amp transformer really draw 5 amps, ever?

The reason … I have 8 Pachinko machines in my game room. They are all “daisy chained” using surge protectors for each machine, one machine supplies electricity to the next BUT, all are supplied electricity from a single switched 15 amp outlet.

The Observation … The Pachinko machines work flawlessly even when all 8 are played simultaneously. The “Master” outlet is never warm. The “Master” surge protector has never tripped. The circuit breaker for the room has never tripped. None of the cords are warm.

Pretzel logic (or is that pachinko logic) would indicate that 8 Pachinko machines with 5 amp transformers installed should be drawing 40 amps. This is clearly NOT the case. If the circuit breaker in my home never trips and the surge protectors never trip, I must be drawing less than 15 amps.

ahhh you working the wrong way around the transformer dosent draw as much as it pts out ie a transformer is rated at 5 amps then it sends to the machine side (24v at 5 amps ) but it dosent drwa 110 volts at five amps it only drwas a fraction of those 5 amps
My rice krispies told me to do it

I suspect they don't draw a lot of current on the 115VAC side.

All machines have their current draw in VA listed on the back of the machine.

a 5 amp transformer only draws around 1.1 amps at 110volt or less at full use and if your running full tilt its gonna heat up at rest i doubt your using more than half an amp .thats less than your ps2 you probably leave plugged in 24-7 .....
