Default Coin Op Pachinko has arrived!!!!!!!!!!!

Here is the run down from crate and shipping to what needs to be done. Too many pics for one post so they will be continued in following replies.

The machine was crated and shipped at a very high cost more than double the machine price. After the disaster with the Electron I didnt want any more troubles.

The crate was made very very well. The machine was packed to fit like a glove.

1/2 inch density foam was used as well as bubble wrap and special packing sandwich cardboard. The cell glass was one piece of plexi but they used glass
    protection film on that!!!!

The machine had to be removed from the crate by unscrewing at least 2 sides
of the crate I chose the front and right side.

I did ask the seller to take out the balls, keys and pack them in a seperate bag, Which he did as well as the Tilt mech bob.

I also asked him to wind the power cord and tape it to the inside.

and I asked that NO PEANUTS be used.

    He complied with every request.

All said and done the machine arrived in the condition that the seller sold it.

In the pics you can see

    The crate.

The foam after the front panel was removed.

The Crate with the front foam removed.

The machine wrapped but still in the crate, with the right side removed.

Then the wrapped machine after removal from the crate.

Finally the machine unwrapped with cell glass protector

Not that I'd want to pay for that, but that packaging is incredible and a PITA too boot.

I have spent a good 8 hours cleaning just the back and ball tray and I painted the entire inside and back with clear Satin latex Varnish.

The wood was old and musty with lots of dust and the Varnish brought it back to new.

I have just orderd two panes of cell glass { the glassiers were out of the 1/8 thickness that I use} have to wait till Tues. These guys are good, usually takes about 15 mins wait and the price is great! $25 for both pieces.

I now have to clean the cell face ,pins, Exterior case etc

Unfortunatly as with the Electron I have a problem which may be big.

There is some hack jobs to the wiring harness which leads to the PC board

and the machine is stuck in the Tilt mode!!!!!!

Turning the machine on and off does not reset it nor does the large white round button on the center of the machine below the cell, which is the replay button.

Working on the PC or just being able to have a really detailed look is very hard because the TRANSFORMER is mounted to it??????
With the power wires soldered to the board!!!!!!!
This is a very odd setup for a Japanese design as it puts tons of weight and stress on the board.
I will have to cut and splice the wires so that I can mount the transformer elsewhere. Also I will have to cut the wires to the Case exterior lights that were tapped into small wires on the PC board in order to remove the board from the machine.. What a drag.

The Coin op mech seems to be intact and it has a coin counter attached as well, that can be seen in the pics.

Once again poor design as the coins can eventually rise to the level of the coin mech and cause a jam!!!!!!!!!!

The lights were all burned out but I replaced them. The fuse also blew out after installing the lights but it was a very old worn looking fuse.

Overall the machine is in good condition the Doors open and close as they should after small adjustments, cleaning and lube and the case wasnt too badly out of alingement. I straightend and renforced it.

It has a scoreboard but the 0 in the left is fluctuating due to the Tilt or faulty board or LED?

The machine seems to get power to all components as the Tilt energizes the solenoids that lock out the machine functions and all lights come on.

Just have to figure out how to reset the tilt.

The Tilt is initiated when a metal bob swings and makes contact with a metal ring that it is hung between. The bob was not in the machine on my start up!

I doubt I will ever use the tilt bob when I get the machine functioning.

Once again if anyone has operating or schematic info please let me know.

So for now I will finish the cleaning and work on the Tilt problem untill they are done I cant write a play review.

It is a Nishijian the emblem is missing from the face!

The theme is of a Medieval Caastle which makes for a nice looking cell.

I will also finish shooting Part 2 of the Electron today. I have been waiting for SUN light LOL

Oooo Eddie, nice machine.....worth dying for
I see what you mean about that PC board....move the transformer and check for cracked traces, that weight and age are factors for sure.

I remember from my days of working at a gameroom, when some of the older pinballs got locked up in tilt mode you had to have someone hold down the tilt bob while hitting the reset button, the release the tilt bob and reset the machine again. dont ask me why but it worked, but this was on american pinball. of course it could be either a hairline crack in the pc board or a shorted wire somewhere making the computer think its still in tilt.

    Oh, by the way

The Tilt problem has been solved!!!!!!!!!

There was a wire which looked like a power cord comming from the PC board and just hanging through a hole in the bottom of the machine. The wire had been spliced to itself?????????

I recalled the seller stating in his add that the machine wouldnt power up but then, he later added the sentence."I have found the problem and connected 2 wires and now it powers up you may need to add a switch"

Why the wire was there is anyones guess as it is not a stock or factory wire.
What its function is or was I have no idea?

What the seller did by connecting the wire to itself was cause the TIlt to be permanant which also illuminates all of the machines lights. He must have assumed that was POWERING UP!

Anyway I cut the wires apart as it just didnt make sense being there and the game came to life resetting the Tilt.

In doing so I have discoverd 3 problems that now have to be sloved.

1 The Score LED does not light in the Hundreds Column only in the Tens and Ones coulmns ,even when reaching triple digit scores.

2 the Replay button is in a permanant state of being active, IE Whenever its depressed the machine resets to a new game IE gives a replay

3 The replay LED does not illuminate.

IF I had schematics I could quickly find the troubles or if anyone had pics of the PC board of a machine I could see where all of the wires should go.

There are 3 sets of wires that are hack jobs comming from the top right of the PC board which I would guess are more than likely the cause of the problems.

I hope the Hundreds LED didnt get fried because of the hack job.

If anyone has owned one of these please feel free to post any info thx

Eddie, can you get a photo of the back side of the PC board? Maybe one of us can help figure it out. Then again, I'm a killer of pachinkos so maybe someone else.

I will get a pic up tomorrow. Believe it or not it is not an easy affair as the wires going to the board from the outside lights are too short to allow the PC board to be put onto something. The Transformers weight and bulk add to the problem as I have to hold the PC board up with one hand the entire time working on it so as not to rip out the wires I cant let the PC board just hang! When I have more time I wil cut the wires and add longer extensions so at least then I will be able to move the board to a table for easier access and to work on it or clean it easier.
I have been searching the entire web for any shop that can repair or at least test the board and its components
but Im not getting anywhere its really frustraiting.
Either they want the entire machine or the Schematics????
Big deal!!!!!! If I had schematics why would I need the repair shop???????? Are there any Electrical engineers left in this Country or are we losing in that field as well? Cant an Electronics guy get a read on the board? its not like they dont know what its function is. Scoreboard LED not working is it getting power? YES?NO? If Yes is it the LED? If NO which tracings or components lead to it? ETC So simple even a Caveman can do it.
I just want a simple board component test. I bet if I gave it 2 months to study electronics I could do it myself but I dont have the time or the bucks for proper testing equipment.
I found 2 possible Pinball and Arcade machine repair places I could have taken the machine to in person but they wanted schematics also!!!!!!
I rebuilt and fixed the Electron never even seeing one before and it was demolished.
One of these shops had sold and repaired two Coin op Pachinkos in the past!!!!!!!
Do we all need to be spoon fed in everything? Something has to change, forget Terrorisim this is far more serious we are losing Brains as a whole!
