Default Pics of painted vintage pachinko

When I got this pachinko the chrome was so rusted not even the chrome polish Arby likes could get all the pitting out so I painted it with gold hammered affect spray paint. Then it had a lot of burns and scratches on plastic parts. I took the hole machine apart cleaned it inside and out. Added extra lights to it and a transformer. Each piece was painted individual ether gold or Burgundy and all put back together. Did not have any extra parts left over and worked beautifully. I have to paint the center gardener with plastic paint, the old stuff just flakes off and fix the bottom board. Then into a cabinet to go on the wall. :smt003 Please let me know if you like the color sheime. This is the only one I have seen that has a gold metal frame. Has any one seen one with a Gardner as the center? I like to garden so this is right up my ally. As well as modifying the lights I also made it so all spent balls that would drop out he back into containers will now drop into the return shoot and go into the bottom tray in the front of machine. No more reaching around to the back or having to open door :smt040 ! The one pic shows an ell shaped piece of tin held in with a screw. A small slit was cut into the plastic and a hole drilled inside making a ramp that diverts the balls from the win pockets into the return shoot. The other pic is of the piece of tin bent like a ramp and held in place by the bending of the metal with again a hole cut into shoot diverting the ball. If anyone wants to see better how this was done I will take back plastic off and give better pics of how it looks inside.Laz.

Great look! Keep us informed how the Krylon Fusion Paint holds up in the ball tray. This product looks very promising.

I must say Laz, that is sweet! :smt023
The gold and burgandy compliment each other well.
Did you do the flipper handle in gold also? I would be curious as to how the gold would hold up on that.

I edited my thread on this to show modification to have spent balls go to the front of machine. So please look at it again. Thanks Laz.

No Lddrizzt I left it the chrome the lighting is not the best I wanted to show off the lights I added. I felt the paint would not hold up. Here is a pic of the hammered metal look still can't see it to well.

Great restoration and custom paint job!

About ten hours in it so far. I have to repaint the center gardener and any thing else that was painted on the play Field. I also have to fix bottom board. That will not be easy. It is part of the frame. This is an idea for a future modification to a different machine. I am a residential painter by trade and do wood finishing. What about replacing the Formica front with a oak laminate all stained up and la cured. I think this would work if the colors were gold and a light color to show off wood. I considered it for this machine but felt the Burgundy was to dark. A remark I will make here and add as an edit to the thread is that if someone wants to paint plastic parts the spray paint made for plastic comes in limited colors so you will have to paint them with a suitable color of the plastic paint. I have not found a primer in the plastic paint so use a sutiblecolor plastic paint and then repaint with any color you want to after that. This is what I did on the gold. Laz.

That kinda makes you wonder if a trip was made over to Japan, what kind of stuff you could ship back like this. If I had the sea story pachinko I would go for this.

Well there you go ! Both you and I !

Well here is another idea for your customizers out there. Why not make up signs like this one and sell it to us ?

    Or better yet....import the originals

Of course the machines last longer than the signs. That pic goes with the 2004 Sea Story model not the 1912 sea story machine on ebay.

    the 1912 sea story
Is that the one with the big ship and the iceberg?

    Machines in the series:
    Gingira Paradise 1995
    Umi Monogatari (Sea Story) 1999
    Gingira Panic 2001
Shin Umi Monogatari (New Sea Story) 2002-2003
Shin Umi Monogatari Special (New Sea Story Special) 2004

Since the name on the sign is just CR Umi Monogatari I would say it's for the 1999 machines.

The machine on ebay was a CR Umi Monogatari 6B (Sanyo, 1999).

It looked to me like the characters changed in the later versions and the sign character matches the them.

I guess the colors just look different on the computer. The picture of the girl Marin-chan on the sign is like the picture at 11 o'clock on the cell of the CR Umi Monogatari 7 machine. Her left hand giving the victory sign is covered up by the title bubbles on the cell, but the picture is the same.
