Default A bit of vintage polishing today

I happened to be looking at a crappy rusty vintage on eBay that was bringing down close to $100. The pins were all corroded and it was rusty around the frame. The seller claimed it worked fine.

Anyhow, that got me to thinking that I'd never polished the pins on my vintage machine and it's a cold windy day and a perfect time to see if I could make it look a bit better. After about 40 minutes of work, take a look at the results below using Brasso brass polish (you don't need much or you'll have a mess!) on a soft wash cloth. It really brightened things up. The vintage now has the best looking pins of all my machines including the most new and modern.

It cleaned up nicely. Isn't that the one you added the extra lights to?

What a beautiful machine I love it! Are those lights in the bottom right corner of the cell?

Just little plastic balls to simulate pachinko balls. Just a decoration.

It did clean up well, but I bought it in the mid 70's so it was a pretty new (relative) machine when I bought it and wasn't very dirty compared to what is floating around on eBay now. I was the first owner after it being removed from a parlor, I believe. Anyhow, I paid $225 for it in 1973. Ummmm... I think one can multiply that price by about 6 or so for today's dollars.

Yep, I added a few extra lights to it just for effect.

It really is a cool machine and works perfectly. Some of the people who come over to the game room would much rather play the vintage than the new ones with all the bells and whistles.

You say you used Brasso - would that be the one manufactured in England??

I actually have Brasso and Silvo in the cupboard , never realised you could use it for Pachinko Pins - although thankfully all mine, being modern, haven't need it.....

You did a really great job on that beautiful machine, it would put most newer Pachinkos to shame!!

Hands down the best, most complete, machine transforming tip posted!!!!!!!!!!!

I went out and bought the Brasso Brass polish. Took hours today but my machines look completely different now that the pins shine like jewels.
The Super Flash pins were almost black if you go back to the posts about it you can see.
They were so dark that the entire playfield just looked dead no matter how clean the glass and case were.
Now they sparkle like gems and the whole cell came to life. I then went on to the Electron and next the Dolphin. Shiny pins really give you the idea of what a brand new vintage machine looked like. Amazing!
As I said much work but the result is unbeliveable.
    Thx Slotter
... side note I was going to try using Brasso on my Dolphin when i got it a few months ago but the can of it that I had was all dried up!
I forgot all about trying it untill Slotters Post and Great pics! but that was a can of the stainless Brasso anyway. The Brasso I used was for Brass.
I never knew they made it untill today LOL
I will post pics of the polished pins soon so all can compare.

it is good stuff careful or it can get messy. As Don said a LITTLE bit will do.
I have been using a classic cloth, it is dry treated cloth. turns black or green into gold.
shine those pins up, it makes them oldies look like spring chickens.
