I just want to send my sympathy your way. SO MANY -- WAY TOO MANY -- doctors look at anyone at all overweight and ignore all the other symptoms and just focus on their weight, resulting in so many missed diagnoses, health complications, and death. Size stigma is deadly. I hope you find body-positive practitioners to work with.

Thank you. I finally have found a decent set of doctors, but I ended up losing my career and long term health. I am on disability. I have lost a lot of friends along the way.

Here's me petting a cat at a cafe in Tokyo when I went. The Japanese can tell you're foreign just by looking for the beer gut.

[this probably fits better here than in the 'song-a-day' thread, though still semi related??]

Here's me, pictured (in actual photographs which I've re-phone-cammed here) 20 yrs ago, posing atop a rank of 32' wooden organ pipes up in one of the ceiling chambers of the main Atlantic City Convention Hall organ. Though the pics are dark (not a lot of ambient light up there...) this is actually *immediately underneath* the roof structure of the building amongst the girders/air handlers/etc which hold all that up. 1st pic is of what the pipes looked like from the closest part of everything up there that had an actual FLOOR to stand on...then me once I crawled out atop the pipes for that pic. (where I'd havta go to "tune" them, if that woulda been my purpose for being there in the 1st place) As can almost also be sorta seen in the 2nd pic (on the RH side) there is NOT actually any plaster/etc ceiling existing underneath where I'm perched up there for that one...from there it woulda been a few stories drop straight down to the concrete ifn's I'd have slipped off. :eeek:
    ACCH1.gifACCH2.gif

This one's during the same trip in another iconic spot in a totally different part of the organ, standing in front of its biggest metal pipes. They weren't actually functional either when I was there, but have since been restored to service and *do* now actually play again!! All these pics were taken with the idea in mind that there is also a rather complete series of historic original black/white 'documentary photographs' taken in ~1929 while the instrument was first being constructed that includes similar photos of people in the same basic places...all those old pics have since been published in a coffee-table book. (search for "Fred Hess" photographer and "Steven D. Smith", author)

Here's a quick Google pics link to one of those historic pics of the very same wood pipes up in the girders...lower RH side shows the ceiling really *is* there when it was taken...

Current info about the instrument/place (if anybody cares) where things are decidedly better now than then, progress with such things is slow but steady...

AND TO ROUND THIS ALL OUT, my most recent 'mugshot' as captured by the photographer of the ARKANSAS TIMES can be found at the very bottom of this nice article about our Co. published in last month's magazine...me sitting at my workbench doing 'arts & crafts organbuilding', underneath my favorite blinkie-light 'traffic signal/shelf decoration/go-to question answerer'... ;-) :-) :rotfl:

All that stuff looks very familiar! I guess all pipe organs are pretty much the same.

Here I am with my daughter from a visit to Chicago with friends this past April. We went to see Perfume on their Future Pop tour.

We had a great view from a booth in the mid level partially over the floor level and the large balcony extending out above us.

And here are the lovely women of Perfume! Picture isn't mine, credit to Andy Argyrakis.
