    Default Julie's Sound

The music that Julie plays sound a little scratchy . Like a lite static or interferience. I thought maybe I didn't install the volume control correctly but its both speakers not just one. I checked the speaker wire connections and all looks good. Is this normal? Any suggestions?

There are certain parts of the tunes that appear to be scratchy on mine, too. I thought the same as you, that the volume controls were messed up, but experimented with them and found they weren't at fault.

Julie without volume is a real loud machine REAL LOUD seems alot louder tham other sankyo cells along with indy and you may find that time been in a parlour running the volume flat out has started to break the speaker down giving that scrachy effect

Or but i doubt it knowing your back ground you may have over heated the volume controle when soldering it in burning the tracks slightly causing the scrachy sound

My rice krispies told me to do it

work your volume up and down the full range and check it again.
some new volume pots don't make a good contact.

I played with the pots, adjusting them up and down and even removed and reinstalled the pots. Several parts of the songs have slight static on my machine. My speakers are fine, btw. Guess it's just the way it is. That said, unless you were really listening for the static, you'd never notice it. It's not something I even think about when playing Julie.

My Arbized Julie sounds perfect, I can't hear anything remotely like scratching! Just crystal clear TOKIO!

The slight scratchiness in the sound occurs rarely, is difficult to hear at all on my machine, and only happens once in a very great while and only in a certain small part of the songs or tunes. As far as I can tell, it's not related to the speakers or to the pots. Anyhow, it's unlikely anyone else would notice it unless they played the machine a whole lot and were listening for it. The TOKIO song is clear as a bell here, too. :

Chris, are you getting scratchiness all the time? That isn't the case with mine as it only happens occasionally, but I jumped into this conversation as I did hear it once and fooled around with the pots to see if they were the cause.

Next time I hear any distortion, I'll make note of where it's at and report in...

The sound on my Julie is perfect too at any volume, but then it also is from Arby and I don't use pots to control the volume level, I use L-Pads.

No not all the time, I can't hear it during the fevers. Its occasionally during normal play. I only noticed it using the cheat button. If the balls were flying I never would of heard it. Its slight but its there and its both speakers.
