I always have to play with my left hand resting on the ball tray to complete the circuit.

I took the shooter knob completely apart, and nothing was out of place or broken, and everything seems grounded properly. I've checked all the fuses, and I've even tried taking the ground wire completely off, and it didn't make any difference. I'm not sure what else to mess with at this point. If it was just mine I would think it was just a defect, but for two Mazinger's to have the same problem? That's just strange...

Here is a arbycoffee trick I use:

wire a long 14 gage wire to the spot and bare the other end, put that in the ground screw of a 3 prong plug. Remember to the ground screww, than plug it in to the wall and see what you got, I do this so I don't have to worry about the grounding.

Thanks everyone for your help and suggestions! I'll keep working with it and see where it gets me.

For the time being, I moved the ground to another screw, ran the wire out the front and wrapped it around the base of the shooter knob. Now I can touch it with my finger while I'm playing and that seems to work fairly well. At least until I decide to wire up a three prong plug...

The silver part of the knob that you turn should be the 'touch 'part.

Yeah, the spin should be the part that grounds and completes the circuit, but that's not the case. There is no broken wire inside the knob, outside the knob, or anywhere near the motor. There is no missing connection anywhere in any of the wiring, and even if there was, it wouldn't affect the same machine that my friend has. As I mentioned before, his does the exact same thing. I wrapped the shooter with the ground wire because touching the ground wire (or the machine) was the only way to get it to fire, and now I can touch it while I'm playing and I don't have to use both hands.

It would if they came from the same parlor, and if that parlor had some weird grounding system.
That silver spin ring is not making the proper ground connection.
It sounds to me that the parlor had grounded cabinets and once in the cabinet, there was no need for human grounding.

Ah, the grounding cabinet... Just like the one my mother used to put me in when I misbehaved.

I can't add anything more then what has already been suggested, but I would have changed out the 2 prong power cord for a 3 prong first. I do it to mine because you really need to ground these things just to protect the circuits. It is really simple and takes about 10 minutes.

My Transformers in my Pachis only have two wire...Where would the ground wire go? Is there a specific place on the machine that it should be connectied to?

    Thanks

P.S. Same for my three pachislos.

I've found some machines have a "Big green wire to nowhere" that can be hooked to a ground or the base of the transformer. But check to see where it came from first but if it is next to other wires going to the transformer try it on the base of the transformer first.

Some people say a picture is worth a thousand words so here goes. This is how I hook up my pachinkos. I cut the 2 wire plug off of the transformer primary and leave enough lead wire to work with then I connect the new 3 wire plug to the transformer primary white to white and black to black. The third wire is green and I connect it to the green wire from the pachinko. The transformer secondary wires are the red wires and this is the 24 volts ac that powers the pachinko. I like to connect them to a standard 120 volt receptical and plug the power lead to the pachinko into it. Some people just cut the plug off the 24v power lead and connect it to the red transformer wires. I use the receptical because it gives me another 24v tap that I can use to power an add on like a battle counter. In the second photo I have the 120 volt 3 conductor cord plugged into a 3 prong socket like you see on the back of a PC. I used it because I hand one laying around and it is loose in the picture so you can see the connection. It will be attached when finished. Make sure you tape or insulate the 120v connections....shock hazard you know. Well that should be clear as mud for you now.
