$$ relevance on Golgo 13

I finally managed to get my Golgo 13 from samurai-slot, and I've got two quick questions about the gameplay.

1. Does the money you earn during the game have any significance to the game itself? Some rounds I'll only earn a few thousand, and other times 30-40 thousand, but I don't know if it has any bearing on anything other than score.

2. There are four lights above the bonus reel to the right of the screen that light up and de-light(?) un-light(?) ...go off as I play. I noticed that they don't match the number of spins I have on the screen, so what do they represent?

the four lights may be showing your banked flipper openings.

I've had the machine for awhile but am still not really sure what the money means - I think that it "steps up" your chances of winning. Similar to some machines that move you to a different screen when your odds of winning improve. It's better if you can leave the machine on if you've accumulated payments for completing sniper jobs - otherwise the bank will clear.
