I bought the magazine that article appeared in. Cool magazine that was published in 1994. Lots of Japanese culture info and the entire mag is written to teach Japanese! Everything from word eplainations to Calvin and Hobbes cartoons translated into Japanese with frame by frame explanaitions!

Re choice of difficulty,
different color playfields of the same game show you if it's a harder or easier version.
As an example, on my game the yellow playfield version is easier, paying 1:13,
while the harder odds black playfield version pays 1:15.
