    Default Assistance Please

I'm a complete newbie here, and have what may be a really ridiculous question or two. Please bear with me.
Recently, we brought out of our storage a Three Star COMPUTER PACHINKO machine. This is a free standing 6 foot tall cabinet mounted COMPUTER PACHINKO machine. Model PM-2 AC 117V manufactured by SATONI Co. Ltd in Tokyo. It has Apollo on a "Rocket Ship" in the center of the game. There is also a "Sammy Amusement Machines, Tokyo, Japan" sticker on it.

    Questions please:

    1) It appears to take a standard base 13" fluorescent tube in the top of the cabinet (which is missing). If so, what number is the tube and where can I get one?

    2) The tilt light remains, on and the unit is inoperable. We've traced the circuits in vain seeking a short.. Is this fluorescent bulb a necessary part of the "tilt" circuit? If not, suggestions??

    3) Can anyone tell me anything about this machine? Is it a "vintage unit". It was originally obtained as a portion of a debt default by a friend in the 1970's, and we purchased it from him. Any information about this unit would be appreciated. We'd like to get it up and running for the kids and grandkids.

Is a manual with a schematic available??

    Thanks,
    Dick

I believe one of our members, Azlew, had one of these at one time. I'm not sure what he was able to find on it and but he'll happen along and share what he remembers I'm sure.

Merryoakparker : Thanks for the memories! Yes I had the same unit( manufactured by SATONI Co. Ltd in Tokyo) but mine was a different theme (not a rocket one). Yes mine had a working tilt and a working measured distribution of balls when we put a quarter in it. The fluorescent bulb in mine did work but I am sorry to say I never really tested it to see if the tilt depended on the fluorescent bulb to be working. Also we enjoyed the scoring system it had and all in all it was well worth the money we paid even tho it came from a Canadian dealer shipped to me here in Arizona and thus a couple of months after we got it = in comes the import fees....All in all a very well made pachi and if I could have gotten a few more I was looking at setting up a route with them in Japanese restaurants.
But as it turned out my condo was/is too small for me to keep all that I have even now so I ended up selling it .

Default I don't need to post pics

I don't need to post pics, the link Birdbrain posted is of a machine identical to mine.

Slothappy, yes, the "tilt" light says "Tilt"

And I'm still looking for a solution to either fixing or bypassing the "Tilt".

    Thanks,
    Dick

We like the tilt function a lot. Plus the scoring counter made it fun for tournaments. If I just had more room...

Obviously I've been away from my computer and this site as we are remodeling our home after 22 years, room by room.

Thanks for the help. It seems to be heading me in the right direction.

My tilt light is still on, and it is labeled "tilt". On the back of the door (front), there is a "reset" button in the left upper corner. It operates a solenoid in the right lower corner which works and is connected to the coin mechanism, but does not turn the "tilt' light off.

Are there schematics available for this machine? Or at least the "tilt function"?

    Thanks,
    Dick

Have you been reading my post?( Coin op Pachinko has arrived!) maybe you have the same trouble that I had where someone soldered a jumper to the board causing the tilt? Check the wireng from the Tilt mech and just trace them along the machine and look to see if there is any unwanted contact somewhere along the wires. If not along the Tilt mech wires than look at the main board and see where the wires would connect to the board tracings and look for any strange jumps on the board tilt tracings. I would also suggest taking out the Tilt bob while doing this so as to be sure it is not making any contact which may be closing the circuit.
