I don't think I'll be offering pre-orders, as at the moment this is just an interesting project for me. I can work on it at my own pace and if I don't feel like it, I can give it a break for a bit and come back to it when I'm in the right mood. As soon as I start taking peoples money, I'm going to feel an obligation to work on it, and that's where it starts feeling more like a regular job rather than something I'm doing just for the fun of it.

BTW I reserve my right to change my mind on this, which is most likely to happen when my credit card bill comes through, as I've just spent about $450 on ordering a whole load of components and the PCBs for the 'sample' batch.

Hey daverob ! I agree with you 100% HAVE FUN !!

(but I too will help offset your costs, when you change your mind)

PS - I have only had my FIRST pachinko machine for a week, and I am all sweaty, and my pachinko machine looks really lonely, and my bank account is smaller since it arrived. Is this normal ??????

    Daverob-
Great job! This looks like it is coming along real well. I only have two machines so I know I’m out for being a beta tester, I’m not even going to bother PMing you. If you do change your mind about preorders let me know because I really, really want two of them very badly. It would help offset your current out of pocket expenses.

Thought I'd make my debut as a voiceover artist and give you a quick teaser video of the prototype unit in operation. The quality isn't that good as the only thing I've got to shoot video is a mobile phone, and the presentation is a little bit rushed as I can't seem to work out how to make it take videos longer than 1 minute.

    Nice work.
I'm sure you could work a coin mech and a ticket dispencer into it pretty easy.

Coin mech connection is in there already, you just use the setup options to disable the card return button for adding credits, and use the coin mech instead. Also working on using smartcards for credits to give the real parlour feel to it.

Ticket dispenser is probably best connected to the battle counter outputs, there's usually a good range of outputs to choose from. You could have it as a ticket for every so many prize balls, or a ticket per start pocket hit, or maybe just a whole load of tickets for a fever round.

We don't have redemption tickets in our arcade, but if we did I'd be tempted to set up a pachinko like this with a ticket won for every start pocket hit. It should be legal as the prize is based on pure skill, and any the extra balls won would just be an extension to the game time.

    Cheers,
    Dave.

The chuck e cheese here is getting fancy. Their machines print a lotto ticket/casino type receipt that has a bar code on it. They also have a machine that reads the tickets and prints the same kind of receipt. I guess it is to make life easier for the prize people. I've also starting to see Bartop touch screen machines with the same style of printer.

That's how the system in Japan works. When you have the balls/tokens you've won counted, the counter prints out a receipt with a barcode on it:

This is taken to the redemption counter where you get your prizes.

Wow i am jealous I would trade some woodworking skills for those PCB interfacing talents of yours. As an incentive finish this project with total battle counters and I would be happy to trade you for custom cabinets shipping included. LOL too many drinks mate but good stuff!

From what i have seen, there are several types of redemption ticket ways.

first and most used : A game machine gives tickets for a certain amount of points or specfic pocket during the gameplay.
second, rarely seen: A machine gives a printout at the end of a game series, like when someone is out of money and wants to collect their price.

There is also a machine called ticket eater, it slurps up the tickets and counts theur value all together, each ticket has a barcode with a value so that several tickets with different values from different machines can all be put into it. When it is done easting tickets, press the print button and you receive a printout like shows above with the barcode which they can then scan at the counter and you can select a price you like.

To me, i do not think the enhanced cardreader emulator needs the ticket printer, this is normally done when you go to a ball counter when done playing. But the option for a ticket printer would be nice, but how will you set the values and when to spit out a ticket (or more).
i see people already standing in front of a machine in an arcade when it hits a fever, the machine will never stop giving out tickets.

You could say, for each ball in the start pocket give out one ticket, but what if it hits the other pockets or the fever, that are different values compared to the startpocket.
Just sitting back and taking a good overview look towrds and arcade..... it does not make it any easier, too much payout will cause removal of the machine, too little payout will also remove the machine because people will not play on it.

I'll send an email to my friend in japan to see how his arcade version of the pachinko works.
They have a cabinet where the shooter tray is covered with plexiglass and a coin mechanism is on the right side of it.
As far as he told me it pays out in plastic balls with a filling in it, like a keychain or other items.
I'll ask him for more details and let you know.
