well the OEM chip is still a mystery but a clever engineer could use the audio signal as a trigger to play from a sound chip a few chosen sounds.

I have thought about this in the past. If you could always find out what state the machine was in, you could have your own hardware sound engine that would drive the speakers.

On the machines that I customize it does have a jackpot light and if you monitored when that light when on, you could then have it start playing "jackpot music" and then it would end when it went off because the bonus round would be over.

Thats my thought for a simple retrofit remove the speaker wires and substitute the sound chip for the input, Devospeed knows a place for custom sound chips, add this up and = total custom machine.

I know a guy that can make a 20 second sound byte on a chip. it comes with a trigger wire & out to speaker wires. It can be hooked up to the jackpot light.

use the reel stop board it has the relays for the bonus round and if memory serves they stay picked up till the bonus round is over .also there isnt any voltage present on the relay outputs so a trigger wire would work easily on it . you could also wire another to the coin in and other relays present on the board just look at the schematic floating around for the pinouts on the board. if you can find the line in to the amplifiers on the sound board you could pump it directly and it would sound excellent .

Wow nice job, even the font is spot on.

There are so many cheap compact flash mp3 players that could be set on repeat and run on 3 volts. You could do all the soundtrack cds and switch the tracks every so often, keep batteries in for battery backup of the song selected. I bought one for $6 at softwareandstuff.com I set it up with a AM transmitter and hid it in the trunk of the fury (on the trunk light wire).

I got the info you wanted. it is a small circuit board. it can record up to about 15 seconds of sound. it has 5 wires. power (5v to 9v & ground), speaker out leads ( + & - ), and it is triggered to ground. so any light, button, or level that triggers to ground can be hook to it. it sells for about $50. you supply the sound byte. I know someone who adds this unit to his machines for an extra $75 to $100. can also get quantity discounts.

This is good info, I have a pachinko experiment I am working on (only in my head right now) and this would really add one more piece to the custom experience. A vintage that kicks with the new guys!
