Looks like the same model we've got (although ours are in blue formica rather than the more classy red ones in this auction).

Always seem to be fixing wiring problems with the loom going to the grab, and burned out coil drive transistors (usually due to shorts in the wiring loom!), but we've got about twenty of these in single and double units and they do take in a fair bit of money during the summer.

Remember you'll need a few bags of foam packing peanuts to place your cuddly toys on, just make sure that it's not quite high enough so that the grab doesn't quite reach the toy, and always turn up the initial grab strength and turn down the hold strength of the grab coil, so that it lifts the toy, but drops it again once it's reached the top!

Always used to come home with loads like you say Hanabi, but nowadays can pick them up no problem, but they nearly always drop once the crane gets to the top.

I prefer to set the old ones up so that you need to get a good initial grab, but once it's lifted the claw is unlikely to release it. I think it appears fairer to the customer and means they're more likely to keep playing, and you can't get better advertising than someone walking around with one of the toys won from the crane.

Unfortunately some of the new cranes are simply set to a 'desired vend price' and will auto adjust the grab and hold strength to try to keep winnings to an average price per win. I feel it takes all the skill out of it, but I can see operators prefering it as it eliminates the risk of your entire cuddly toy stock disappearing for only a couple of quid.

We have one at the Diner that was placed there by an outside vendor. When it is freshly stocked, it gives them up pretty easily. Once the top ones are picked, it gets more difficult. We do get a "cut" when the guy comes in...but it rarely exceeds what we've put in ourselves We like to have a few on hand for when a child doesn't get one and cries One day, my daughter saw a toy in there that was exactly like her "luvvy"...and you know, you can never have too many spare "luvvies". I put $25 in and never got it. Fortunately, I happened to be at the Diner when it was being refilled and I told the man I had been trying to get it and then I asked the man for it. He said..."Sorry Lady, I really can't", to which I said..."I don't believe we've ever met, I am Dawn, this is my place, nice to meet you." Of course, he handed the dog right over Sometimes it's nice to have connections.

Cool! You could refit the jaws of that thing with closed style scoops and fill the machine with pachinko balls. How's that for a unique ball dispenser?

Ever figure it might be worth it to take your 'cut' in plushies?

Hanabi, I'm very shocked! All this time I thought that you had married the last cuddly toy that you won. The large armful, the Wookie! Do you mean that there has been more than one?

If you haven't grown up by age 50 ... you don't have to!
