I'm curious if anyone knows how to remove nicotine stains from a machine.

I've had the modern pachinko "The Professor" for a short time and I immediately noticed the staining above the ashtray as it is in a white frame.

i'd like to know that as well. my bond machine is in the white frame and the smoke stain at the ash tray is bad. i have tried everything from stain removers to polishing with the dogs tail.

are ya both sure its tar?? i would think polish should take surface stains out

its some kind of funk. its looks as if the tar has dyed the plastic. or when you get the plastic too hot and it turns brown.

Probably cigarette burns, takes some hard polishing to get rid of it.

I'm pretty sure the ones on my frame are nicotine stains - like you would see on the teeth and fingers of a long time, heavy smoker. I could be wrong though.

I took miracle cloth to the stains when I first got it and that removed the surface tar, but there are still brownish-yellow stains in the plastic. I'll look into the method that Mopar posted the link to.

But if it really bad this won't help ether. The shooter handle on my Lumina is still a little yellow.

Well my Giant Seven came in 2 days early (balls too even though they were sent separate) and was packed very well - I'll give slot-pachinko credit for quick and safe shipping. Machine however was FILTHY. I'm sure it spent time on a farm, or in a gorilla's nest, or at the bottom of the sea, or maybe all three. I've been scrubbing funk for 2 days just so I could safely test it and play it - this includes a mysterious sticky substance in the reward hopper that I finally had to scrape out with a razor blade. Also I noticed he took both glass panes and just replaced the inner one with a piece of plexi that is too thin and rattles a lot. It's serviceable, but I'm going to have to go somewhere and get two new pieces cut. I think somone mentioned on another forum that they do this (remove the glass) so that there's no broken glass during transit. Personally I would have rather they took the chance and shipped the glass just to try to have an intact machine.

Regardless, the machine ROCKS. I'm sure I had drool coming out of the corners of my mouth after the first 10 minutes playing, and I haven't hit the bonus yet. I've loved my Sankyo Wanted for the past 6 years or so, but it may get a little neglect now that the new boss is in town!

Okay I am sure my story behind the machine I ordered, Yamato CR1, is well known but JUST in case I will post the final resolution in the Slots-pachinko thread.

I was really disappointed about the Pachi being the wrong one. That went away when it was received! My pachi looked as though it was NEVER EVER played.
Its a white frame as you can see my posted pics in another thread. The astray looks like it was NEVER EVER used! Keep in mind this machine was made in 2007! Curt offered to take it back on the spot as he knew I was right. I could have gotten a different machine but chose not to with a little help from my friends here, that line will live in infamy in my head, an old spaceboat Pachi is better than NO spaceboat pachi... Everybody was really supportive and I am glad I kept it. I am not sure about glass on the inside but there is on the outside, he even included the key for it. Oh, as a thank you Curt GAVE me at no charge either 300-500 pachiballs for my trouble, to me this was a class act.

In the end nobody is perfect BUT for me, SO far, Slots-pachinko is 2/2. I will have a 3rd machine in the next 3-4 weeks so we'll see how that goes. This hobby is going to kill my rather small bank account but its SO worth it!. You guys also make it worth it as you understand my real joy in unpacking, looking at it joy, and then firing it up!

My experiences with them have been good also.
My latest machine must have been in the smoke free section of a parlor.
Had a small dent in the front that was filled in with some sort of plastic filler. I had some touch up paint that was a very close match. The pause button on the shooter knob was stuck in the closed position, but a little silicone lubricant took care of that. The cell looks brand new. For a used machine, I would say it is in excellent shape.

Oddly I got the same feeling... and I was ordering a machine. I guess it's sometimes the tradeoff you make when you have some vendors with incredible and friendly customer service but prices that are 30% higher and the others that are lousy but have bargains that come at a price.

Well as Santayana said "Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it"...let's hope I learned a lesson

You are so right! Some of my very first buys were back in the day with Gaku and he always treated me really well. I miss those days...(Gamera and Ultraman for around 125.00 each!) He did sell me a few parts too because of my purchases.
