I'm needing a ball lifter as well wouldn't this be really handy. I have got so big into pachinko and pachislo machines. I'm finding deals left and right and at thrift stores and garage sales and I ask at the garage sales if they have any of these machines they will sell. I've had a coupel given to me for free just need to be dusted from sitting in basement or attic.

I made some of the gears when I had machine shop students available to make them for me/us. I still have not received any reimbursement for my effort and will not provide any more gears.
I no longer work at the school so that was the one and only batch.
I was thinking of writing a new program for my machine to make these but have moved to pinballs and have lost interest in pachinko.

I know I am 9 months behind the last post on this one, but has anyone gotten close to developing a ball lifter that would be for sale since I am not much of a DIYer?

probably best to buy one of the orange ones that comes up on ebay or YJA. they go for about $150-$200 used. you might ask around, too, b/c I bought one from a pachitalk member.

I tinkered myself, but could never really get something reliable enough for that much ball flow.

I have been looking at Dave's doungle site and am interested in the interface to ouputs DRDY,BRQ and inputs PRDY,EXS.This is the only bit i can't find data on. what type of comunication is it using and what commands and responses do you get from the Pachinko machine. is clocked serial i2c if so which it the clock input and data input lines and clock out/data out lines.and at what speed can it be clocked in and out. Can't find any info on this.I have built a token machine from a mars coin mech.home made interface from Pic and used hoppers for token payout.Your doungle is developed very well. but I would like to have a go out building a coin only system.instead of smart card using just coin mech and cash payout hopper for returned balls.using an induction coil to count balls returned or opto refective counter. problems I see are if the return balls are less than a return coin credit value. say 250balls returns £1 from the £1. hopper. unless i have a display showing the ball remainder to allow some one else to get the £1 out by returning the remainder required.

I know use the led display as the remaining balls and just dispense then back to player when presses the ball loan button.Ok prototype here we come.

I couldn't find any data on it when I was looking at it back in 2006. Even searching in Japanese didn't help at all. It took me quite a few months to reverse engineer it and figure it all out. I'm not really sure whether I should give away the secrets (at least in public!) as it would make it easy for competitors to make similar products.

However I will say that the protocol is very simple, and is not any type of serial communications. It's just a matter of asserting the signals in the correct order and with the right timings and responding to the changes in the EXS signal with the correct timing delay. It's a little bit more complicated when you're dealing with failed payouts (when the pachinko is out of balls etc), but again it's just making sure you respond correctly at the right time.

Getting it working reliably on one machine wouldn't be too difficult, but different manufacturers seem to have slightly different methods and timings, and it took quite a bit of testing and measuring to get the timings compatible with all pachinko machines. I ended up buying 12 pachinkos just to test out the differences, and I still had to make a few adjustments after beta testing to get the last few manufacturers machines working.

but I would like to have a go out building a coin only system.instead of smart card using just coin mech and cash payout hopper for returned balls.
There is information on the site about attaching a coin mech to the dongle. I am also planning to build a ball counter module that will interface to the dongle to add credit back for balls drained out of the front shooter tray by the player.

You could use a dongle, and a breakout board so that your own circuit is connected to the buttons and display, and then just use the dongle to trigger a payout. You'd just need to set the dongle to 'o-1' Freeplay mode and just ground the ball loan button signal to the dongle each time you want a payout. It would also be a good idea to monitor the TDLO LED output from the dongle (via an opto-isolator) to check for failed payouts.

If you do want a bit more information about the interface, then email me with a bit more information about what you are planning to do, and I'll see what I can do (email address is on the website).
