Simple, yet elegant. Me likes this additional mod. Glad I used hot glue to put that extra piece in, instead of the epoxy I was thinking of. Should be able to find something to make that L-shaped piece with...

Okay, here is what I did with mine. I cut a small notch from the bottom side of the plastic where the red dot is in the picture arrow pointing to it(better put your glasses on), then cut along the red lines to create a flap. This can be lifted up or set back down to transform the machine from semi cyclic to parlor ready.

The most this mod could require is a peice of tape to hold up or down the flap, but on mine it seems strong enough to not need it in either position. This took around 10 minutes with the dremel which was much quicker than my cutie honey semi cyclic project...but more on that later.

Sorry for using your picture without permission Arby but I figure for the sake of the thread it would be okay.

Well thanks to Arby's post on how to do this on the locked how to guide, I did it on my Galaxy Train machine. I tried the notch method shown in the post by palepoli, but it did not work. I taped it in place for now.I highly recommend this method! Shorty after doing the mod I hit a fever round and it was so nice to actually play the game without having to check and fill the hopper. All played balls come to the front and only have to take the from there to the top tray. This is no parlor so I really don't care how many balls I would have won. I also feel this will make it a much better game play for when I have people over. Now I may have to attempt this on my Friends machine that is in a Victory frame (anyone done it on a Victory frame yet?).
    and a few others.

I did my newest Lumina mod last night and rather than doing it in the usual way I made the normal cuts and didn't install the blocker piece on the other end of the ramp. I heated up the remainder of the top ramp just before the cut and turned it down so it curves down toward the lower opening. I had the boy play about 1,000 balls through it twice while i watched and the balls don't really even leave the surface of the curve and don't even come close to jumping the gap. The good news is you don't have to fiddle with hot glueing in the piece that blocks the other side of the ramp.

Here is my hack of the picture:

Wow...an old thread. But now that you mention it, I'm going to switch my only semi-cyclic machine - Indy, back to parlor ready whenever I get a chance. It worked fine when I played because I usually remembered to keep the lower tray clear.

But guests would never remember that and I'd invariably walk by to see balls backed up into the cell because the lower tray was filled. One time a guy had filled the cell with so many balls they covered the fever slot...ugh. These are a pain to free up. Open the glass door and balls spill all over the place and into the lower section. Then you have to bang the thing to free up the logjam. Too much trouble for me.

i usually just cut a piece of stiff foam to block the unused duct. that way it can be switched back without too much trouble.

It seems to me that if you did it the way Subarubrat suggested. When the balls backed up to the original raceway, they would start dumping to the back ball tray again. Maybe the best of both worlds

That is the idea, I just stuck the ball collecting basket in it's old spot as an overflow. But after about 2,000 balls not one was in the basket.

Yeah I did it the other way - I cut out part of the track entirely and blocked off the path to the back dump with something hot glued in place. Since it's in a cabinet already, I'll just switch it back and have the balls dump to the bottom of it, like all the others.
