Default Sankyo - Bisty - Lumina - Clarification

    Sankyo, Bisty, Lumina.

Can anyone clarify the relation between these three words??

Is 'Lumina' a style of frame manufactured and used by 'Sankyo' or is the Lumina frame manufactured by another company (Lumina?) and used by Sankyo??

And where do 'Bisty' come into this??

I have searched the forums a bit and seen the frame page with both Sankyo and Bisty badged onto a Lumina style frame but I was wondering how the three fit together.

The bottom line is 'Who manufactures what'.??

    Just curious.

Bisty is a sub-co of Sankyo and Lumina is the style of frame used/manufactured by both.

Some Bisty and Sankyo cells are too large in the back for all the circuit boards to fit on the cell so one gets mounted on the lower left of the rear plastic door instead. This cell and board must be considered as a matched set for that particular cell. Despite this requirement for the separately mounted board, all Sankyo or Bisty Lumina frame based cells are interchangeable. There is no extra board involved. It is simply a matter of wether it is mounted on the cell rear or on the rear plastic door. All the cells have one Main and one Sub circuit board.

Julie is not the only cell that does this, my Super Stadium is this way for example, and there are others.

Now, the Heiwa's with the Thunderzone/Batman frame series mounts the sound boards off the cells as well. I haven't checked their newer frames to see if this still holds true.

Another thing to consider is that although the cell to main or sub-board cables are electrically compatible, they can vary in length from cell to cell. When buying a stand-alone cell be sure that it comes complete with it's own cables.

Daido was part of Bisty as well. To confuse matters further, the Fields Corporation markets and distributes both Bisty and Sammy games.

    so those two work together?
if I have a julie or two will I be able to fit all of the older cells as long as the cords will reach?

I was doing some last minute editing and you may have missed this addition. If I understand your question correctly, yes, all Bisty and Sankyo Lumina frame series cells are interchangeable. I personally have over a dozen cells of this series and have swapped them all back and forth.

Thanks to the responses on this thread and others I now understand how cell swapping works and which frames go with which cells etc. What I still am not too sure on is how to go about getting an actual cell. I know you need to either find someone who has em for sale here or you need to find them on Yahoo Japan and retain an exporter/proxy bidder to get it for you.

Since I just got a Lumina frame with IJ and can't get anything new for a little while, I'd like to just "browse" for now - look at prices, see what's out there etc. That's where I'm stuck. I have no clue how to do anything on yahoo Japan. I can barely get into auctions let alone search for pachinko cells. Is it possible to create a link to yahoo japan auctions with search criteria associated with it?

    http://list5.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp...ml?alocale=0jp
on the left side you'll see a links table, the second one down usually has about 4000 or so listings is for pachislos, the one that has 600 or so listings is pachinkos, the one at the bottom of the links section is accessories. you'll find cells in both pachinkos and accys sections. i use firefox as a browser, it has an add on translator that works pretty good, and it's automatic once you engage it.

    Cool!! Thanks!

I just installed FoxLingo to do the translations. Lots of interesting stuff. I see there's a big market for "desktop" machines. But hmm...I wonder why someone would be selling small, coin-sized neodymium magnets in the pachinko section?!?

one point to remember is they sell alot of desktop players of the cells. They can't be used in any frames, for they have been butchered to run the video all the time and parts are missing you need to have when cell switching.

Yeah these "desktop" things look pretty hacked up. What's the purpose of them? Do you just push a button to simulate a ball going into a Start pocket..just to watch the videos?

That seems like it would get old fast. That's even worse than the video game versions of pachislos. But I guess as mentioned elsewhere, space is at a premium in Japan.

For these funky translations, I assume:

"reverse side ball circulating process specification" = machine has been converted to cyclic

"cell basis", "cell board basis" = a complete cell

    But this one's beyond me:

"If the up-to-date slot, the pachinko you buy, to the west Japanese one biggest patio!!"
