Default converting the euro? to US dollar

To the members in the UK. Can you please tell me how to convert this email to US dollars. the total for 5 will be £14.41GBP (£4.21GBP(excluding VAT @ 17.5%) + £10.20GBP postage.)
We have more if required & this will cost an extra £2.39 (excluding VAT) for each extra set purchased. I'm not sure what the GBP means. I tried to convert it but I don't think I did it right. Could you please post how to do it so I understand to do it on my own. Is this supposed to be the vat amount to subtract? (£4.21GBPThanks Laz.

that is in british pounds not euros. the brits were smart enough to tell them to stuff they're euros.currently the pound is trading at:1.9583 US dollars per pound.
so it would be $28.22 USd total

17.5% of 4.21 is .74 so the total 4.95 + 10.20 postage 15.15 pounds and the current conversion is...

15.15 GBP United Kingdom Pounds = 29.7212 USD United States Dollars
    1 GBP = 1.96180 USD 1 USD = 0.509737 GBP

"(£4.21GBP(excluding VAT @ 17.5%) " VAT is not charged on exported items. thats why he listed it as L 4.41 minus the vat equals L 4.21

    Live mid-market rates as of 2006.12.29 03: 06: 17 UTC.
14.41 GBP United Kingdom Pounds = 28.2739 USD United States Dollars
    1 GBP = 1.96211 USD 1 USD = 0.509657 GBP

It's not much difference but I'd stay with XE.com as they are using live market rates and google is whatever it closed at here.

If I am not to get charged the VAT why are you adding the .74 to the total Tulsa? Is he not saying that the 14.41 is the total with the VAT of 4.21 already taken off? Then postage for the first item is the 10.20 and the extra 4 are a 2.39. All in GPB. So 27.88 for item+20.01 for postage of first item, then 4.68 for each of the extra 4 items (18.72) total postage 38.73 Grand total 58.74. Maybe I am supposed to subtract the VAT off that 2.39GPB?

I must still be missing something. Here is the link to the auction. http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...ayphotohosting
So he must mean that if I want more than the five then each of them is the 2.39GBP. but if they are .99GBP each and I want five how does that come up to the 14.41?

"the total for 5 will be £14.41GBP"
this is what i read: the total will be $28.22 (approx)

    (£4.21GBP(excluding VAT @ 17.5%) + £10.20GBP postage.)
how he breaks it down is :total of 4.21 Lbs for the 5 items plus 10.20lbs for shipping.
not knowing what your buying i can only guess that you are paying 83p per item.

edit after seeing the above post:
now i see what you are buying: the 99p includes VAT so he subtracted that and came up with 4.21 for 5 sets and then added shipping at 10.20 for a total of 14.41 pounds.

Thanks Birdbrain. Now I see what he was saying. As for buying American. If you can't find what you want for the price you want to pay here then you have to look somewhere else. I have a specific need for this size snap off knife and I need a lot of the knife handles to go with the load of replacement knives I am getting to go in them. This was the best price by far I seen them.
