Well if someone named Hillery get her way there will be! Then you can see our taxes be even more and heath care worse. Along with your choice of how, Ware, and when, you get treatment. Med insurance rate out of paycheck + Dr. copay = what we would be paying if there was no insurance. But if you don't have insurace they get away with socking you 5X more than it should be to bankrupt you or have the gov. pay.

they charged her $300.00 a day to give her a thyroid pill that cost about 50 cents.

If people are paying their own way the free market will keep prices down. As soon as people feel that its all paid for via insurance (or a government plan/scheme) and they no longer try to control their costs and expenses... guess what happens? Prices skyrocket and/or quality-of-service falls.

$300 a day......That must be a bargain basement hospital. I know all of you know this, but there is a difference between what is billed and what is paid. We may bill around $70,000 for Bilateral Total Knees, but the insurance company only pays $25,000, and the policy holder $1200. So, the numbers on the bill......really mean nothing.

The company I work for, HCA, gives the same discount to uninsured patients as it does to insured ones. Most other hospitals will extend the same discount to the unisured if the patient asks.

Well they must mean something or they wouldn't bother to bill it that way. There is a definite reason for that $70,000 to show on that bill.

the lady I drive gets skin cancer on her face, she gets it brunt off with nitrogen.

the doctor bills high and medicare pays part of it and he writes the balance off. he gets a tax writeoff for that.

she pays nothing.
