Default Ebay..tips, tricks and sniping bits

    Hi All,

I searched for a thread about this subject, and did'nt find one.

(ok moderator...that's your que, if there is a thread...feel free to move this and thanks)

I would like to hear about any tricks, or tips anyone has on bidding with E-Bay. I just learned about one that I never really thought of. So as not to give away his secret...I will let Fronzdan Fill us in, if he so chooses.

Also, another tip is to check out www.fatfingers.com. Type in what you're looking for on e-bay, and it will search every possible spelling for that item. I won a Luke Skywalker item for cheap once (I think it was a mug) because the seller listed it as Skiwalker. I bet there are a lot of items out there that are never seen because of that very problem.

So, with that said, Please share with our community any tips you might have about e-bay, or any other auction site you have used.

P.S. If you want to keep your trade secrets..then more power to you my friend

I use an Atomic Clock that is precise down to the second and snipe it myself. I start 10 minutes ahead of time and then each minute to see what the current drag or delay is on the internet and ebay. Generally I get my bid in with 3 or 4 seconds left. No snipe program can beat that.

I agree. The biggest tip for ebay bidders is to practice some will power.....which means don't ever bid on day one....or day two....or days three through six....and on day seven, don't bid with an hour left.....or 10 minutes left....or thirty seconds left....instead, bid once and only once and wait until there are less than 10 seconds left. Also, don't go crazy with a very high final snipe bid for a machine that is up for auction by someone practically every day.....just accept defeat from time to time and try your best the next day. There's no reason to overpay when there are over 100 pachinko and pachislo machines up for auction at any point in time.

Case in point, there is a Spiderman pachinko that still has a day to go and already its up to $152.50 and has received 15 bids. Did any of those early bidders really think their $70 bid from 3 days ago was going to win out on this machine? They all would have been better off waiting until the last second and then taking their chances.

You might have to wait a little longer to get the machine you want, but you will pay less in the long run.

The only way to ebay! And has worked wonders for me, I just hate when I sleep on it and miss the end time by 15 min.

So True, I think most people who bid up already own the auction item, they just cant stand someone else winning it for less. Damn haters!

Some auctions end in the middle of the night or while some of us are working. So use a free sniping program to at least have a chance at putting your bid in without bidding early and drawing attention to the aUction and raising the bid.

If your connection is a little slow, disable downloading graphics. It speeds up refreshes. Also, open the auction in 2 tabs, refresh one, get your bid ready on the other.

The two windows trick is one I use. Be sure and remember that you have to confirm your bid, so fill out the amount and submit it to get the confirmation screen. Then you only have one click to make and your in.

We do it the same, Lucky... you have to do that since eBay might have you logged off. Also, you can stil reload the original page each minute. Then on the LAST few seconds as mentioned above hit the button to place your bid. Always has worked for me, and never lost an auction other than one that was more than willing to pay.
