I know, Tulsa, that you are only allowed to win when your number is up. But don't you still have to shoot within the allowed range?
In the first pic, notice the reel pattern and in the second notice the winning pattern. Since you can win with 7's V's and with various bells, with the four position slippage, the machine can totally control your winnings.

Wherever you press the stop button, the machine can slip into pratically any winning or losing position.

'Tis true, on the Palot it will always give you bells or another winner when it's time; just not (for example) the three bars (since you can shoot badly enough to not match three of either of those).

As discussed in other threads, you'll win if it wants you to, but how much depends (somewhat) on skill--as shown on the 'perfect Spin Luck bonus round video' now that I think of it.

And as for CA not wanting you to own (newer) slots, I cannot disagree...but I think that pachislos are so confusing (duh, I still don't have it right, although I should by now!) to the American-slot-familiar public that it just hasn't mattered enough to be challenged.

The lesson seems to be: don't sell anything in CA that looks like a newer slot unless you have their piece of paper.

the lesson learned should be you ain't allowed to have it unless they get their cut ...... that goes for just about anything that makes money or gives pleasure ........

I have had another thought on this. I removed the locking pinsw on a machine I bought without a key and had another lock break so I have 2 machines that don't lock and the rest have the key attached to the cabinet with springy plastic coils, no way anyone can say I am using these for gambling when everyone has free access to the hopper. I say if the door is unlocked it should be legal. Just an amusement piece.

First of all, Merry Christmas to all!

California has very strange laws. The rifle in my avatar would be legal if you could modify it to fire 10 rounds or less. That is simple, only load 10 links, right. Try proving that in court. The burden of proof is on the defendant in this case. Guilty until proven innocent. Good luck, I am curious to see the outcome.

I moved from So Cal in 1990 and have never looked back.
