    Default pachinko packing

Mods, if you feel this would be better served else where please feel free to move....

When I picked up my Fever Queen I got it from a surplus/salvage place. I spoke to the owner briefly and he has a contract with www.slot-pachinko.com to get all their return/reject pachinko machines. I noticed that the pachinko was in a sealed box, He informed me that they take the machine out power it up yadda yadda and write the auction up accordingly after pics they pack it back the way they recieved it.... if I would have saved myself the headache of driving 160miles FURTHER than ebay said and spent $10more to have it shipped than what I used in gas... Would this have made it to my house in one piece???????

This is what I saw after I opened the four flaps to the box....

    Picture 254.jpg

This ALL the padding taken out of the box....

    Picture 255.jpg

As of right now, I am glad I drove the 348mile round trip to pick up the machine.... Although according to ebay, this was only 94miles away...

Scooby - If I was betting man, then I would guess the odds would have favoured it not arriving un-damaged.

I think you did best by collecting it IMO

if you can pick a machine up it gives you one less thing to worry about..

strange things happen during the shipping process the number of goons that mishandle things greatly increases with the distance required to ship..

you did good picking it up yourself...

I'd give it a 50/50 chance at best of making it without damage. You did fine picking it up and driving 348 miles.

The packing shown was sub par probably if the salvage guys left it as the pachinko place paced it it probably was OK but the 3rd part guys just stuffed it back in the box. It would not have survived what my last pachinko went through on the way to my house, I think it is best to pickup, I never had a slot shipped to me. I picked up the last(vintage) one and I am glad the seller didn't have a box and would have taken forever to get tit sent, the one vintage before that was sent to the wrong person and they repacked and sent back then it came to me. It somehow survived all 3 trips.

These people need to learn the man with the purple hat's(Sir Arbycoffee) way of professional packing a pachinko machine! Gawd what a mess! There is no way that would of made it with out some kind of problem.

Thats just another example why one should pay the extra and go with the premier pachinko seller in the USA!!

I received a Star Wars Pachi about a month and a half ago. I was stunned at how poorly it was packed. My heart sank when I saw it leaning against the house on my porch in a recycled wrinkled box. It was packed in a thin-walled corrugated U-Haul wardrobe box just slightly larger than the machine!

The machine had been placed in a black garbage bag, placed in the box, then a half can of expanding foam sealer was squirted around the top and sides before the box was sealed. In most areas the foam didn't expand enough to make contact with the box (no protection).

Miraculously, the machine arrived unscathed and without a scratch (Thank you DHL and thank you Sankyo for a sturdy machine!!).

will save 15 bucks on packing, but lose 100s when it gets wrecked in shipping.

Just to be fair, the machines I have received from slot-pachinko always had their boxes packed quite full with the foam, every time. The salvage company clearly didn't add any extra after the original customer took some out.

I've had a few shipped with worse packing than that, and somehow they made it....I can't find it now, but I posted pics of my vintage and its craptastic packing....tiny box and only some random pieces of styrofoam, but somehow it made it.

That's not that bad when I think of what I've received.
My Sinbad came on a cardboard "pallet" with the injected foam stuff around the bottom couple inches of the machine. The other 90% of the machine was just floating around in the top part of the box with a couple sheets of BUBBLE WRAP around it. It easily was banging around in there the whole way. If the box was set upside down, the machine would have fallen out of the foam and slammed to the ground. Miraculously the machine wasn't damaged at all and was very clean. I really have to hand it to the UPS guys that deliver my stuff.

I had a vintage shipped in a very small box. It only had the hard styrofoam corners and it survived UPS. no balls either so it was a light package. Maybe being light helped.

We ship 10,000 packages a year on average. I am always amazed at how our customers pack things. Newspaper is not a packing material, it is for the bottom of bird cages. Used boxes are an instant claim denial by all carriers. Electronics require double boxing or claims are denied. We have shipped quite a few pinball machines and most people want us to "just strap it to a pallet, it'll be fine". OKAY, the guy down the street will be happy to ship that for you because I sure won't.

I was pleased with the double boxing from STEALTH eventhough the outer box was crushed and the machine was delivered with the "this side up" facing down. Too much packing is never enough.

Would a 70's vintage fall into this catagory?

If it plugs in, the carriers assume it's an eletronic item. I'm sure they don't have a specific claim process for 70's pachis but I know how they deny claims.
We just came off the busiest week in shipping and I hate to go to work today knowing how many damage and lost claim phone calls we'll receive. It's not our fault but we were the last ones our customers saw handling their packages.

    "damn thats pretty mangled... "

The picture in question is actually a large monitor that arrived at our location. The box was round as if it had been tumbling on a conveyor for hours on end. UPS denied the claim saying it was no properly packaged. We fought and won.
