Question NEW Newgin -- Basic Questions

HI....I just picked up a slot reel Newgin and was wondering if anyone could answer some basic questions. I've attached a few pics.

Any idea what time period it is from? It's in great shape but seems a bit heavier than my other video pachinko. Any idea how to find a manual or some info on the machine?

Also, does anyone know what the yellow and red buttons on the front are for? They don't seem to do anything.

Of course I haven't gotten the fever round yet since I had to replace the glass and do some other basic stuff to get it working. But I noted the OPEN door has never opened! Is it supposed to open periodically, or only in the Fever round?

    thanks much

    It's newer than 2000.
The 2 buttons are used for the parlor card reading system, no use at home.
The open door opens during fevers.

Also have you read through the first section on the main page at the top titled "So You're New To Pachis" It goes over alot of the basics, and will answer alot of questions if you are new to the hobby.

This is my personal opinion, or of the voices in my head, and are not meant to reflect the opinion of this board.

thanks...I scanned through the NEW section but will have to go read it again more slowly. I probably missed some good stuff there...

One other thing...there is a small toggle switch on the back of the machine...any idea what it is for?

Also, what do the little lights on the front do? I know the one on the bottom displays the number of winning balls waiting to be paid out when the hopper is empty. There is a counter to the left of the reels that usually displays 00 and sometimes flashes when the wheels are spinning...but never changes from 00. Then to the right of the reels there is another small window that sometimes just flashes a red pin light but no numbers yet..do these do something if I ever get to fever mode?
    thanks again!

    thanks, everyone...

Now I just have to see if I can get a friend to translate to English for me!
I'm still trying to get the fever!!...

    another question:

I noticed the machine has a little curved ledge below the Reels and above the center pocket. Behind the ledge is an opening that the ball can fall into which funnels the ball down where it exits just above the center pocket. Most of the time if it falls down the chute, it will fall into the activation pocket.

However, the ball very very rarely goes down the chute when it does land on the ledge. It seems that if the ball has just the exact speed and location, it will get trapped in a little groove that will guide it back into the opening. But almost always it just rolls off the front of the ledge to end up wherever the pachinko god determines it should go.

Is this normal? It seems that the game would play better if there was a better chance of it going down the chute, when I am lucky enough to get it to land on the ledge! Why go to all that trouble to design a feature that isn't much fun for the player?

It does seem that the ball would have a much better chance of rolling backwards off the ledge and into the chute if the machine was tilted backwards just a tad. But I tried to use a level to make sure the machine is as level as possible.

Is this extremely low probability of getting the ball down the chute normal? Should the game perhaps be tilted slightly backwards?

Should I quit asking idiotic questions and just keep knocking the balls around until I win??
    thanks
    Dennis

most machines are like that to favor the palours.

I'm lucky if one in ten go into the center pocket.

These machines are recreational to us here in the States, in Japan the parlors (similiar to our casino's) take peoples money, so like luckydog said, the machine is built to favor the parlor, there are a few things you can do to make it easier to get balls into the start pocket. Nail bending: search the forum on this topic, there have been many discussions. Don't tilt your machine, keep it level. Play, play, play, you can play most of these machines for months on end and still see something new happen often.

I finally hit the fever! that was fun...

now i have another question though....

the top right LED now displays the letter C.

and the large red lights on the front now flash and alternate all the time. They didn't do this before. Does the machine need to be reset?
It still seems to work OK. I like the flashing lights but just wondering if it means something.

I tried powering off, and toggling the small switch on the back, but nothing changed.

    thanks again!

I don't know the machine, but the C sounds like you're in a 'Chance' round. This usually lasts for 100 spins after a fever round, and during this time the odds of hitting another fever are about 10 times more likely.

According to our resident pachi god, Mr Arby, these machines are designed for back tilt.
    see here:
Parlors set the machine by cell face from 1 1/2 degrees to 3 degrees.
now which is best ? I personly think 1 1/2 degrees.

1 1/2 degrees is not much, but it does allow more board action.
