    Default How is this allowed?

I saw a bunch of listings on ebay from a company selling "custom" machines - Here's one for example:

    http://cgi.ebay.com/Dale-Earnhardt-J...QQcmdZViewItem

Isn't there such a thing as licensing fees to use a person's image?

Million God has an ancient Greece theme on the video screen with thunder and lightning.

Thankfully I've leared TONS since coming here (Thanks everyone). I can't help but wonder if folks are disappointed when their custom purchase arrives...

Usually when they find their way here and realize what they purchased isn't what they intended to purchase.

I like how many of the auctions say 'direct from the Ginza strip'! How do they know this is exactly where it came from? I guess every parlor in Japan is crammed in there! I guess like the only place to gamble in the US is Vegas.

Most people that are buying "CUSTOM" machines are buying them for the images or theme of the machine not for how it plays. Most are getting them for presents & have never had a machine before. As far as the pictures, most are copyrighted by the owner but unless someone rats them out then not much is done about it. They are such a small precentage it is just not worth it. But if you rat one out then you do it to all of them. There are several people on here that make custom machine & i am should they are not paying royalties to the owners of those images. It is not like these people are making millions. Most CUSTOM machines are just the glass but there are a couple of good CUSTOM people that will do the reels & reel glass also. Some can even do sound addons.

You don't know how happy I found my way here before deciding to make purchases - I'm now the proud owner of authentic versions of Yamato, Super Blackjack and Mach Go Go Go and looking to make my first Pachinko purchase in the future. Also, glad to have found great suppliers such as Stealth and Gaku in a sea of questionable sellers. I can't say enough times how much I appreciate the knowledge gained from you guys!

most people will get away with it but if you see a Disney machine i can tell you for a fact if they didn't see it if you bring it to there attention it will be history . they don't care if its for a non profit agency they'll slap you with a cease order . i had a friend that made wood lawn ornaments get slapped at a flea market for a few mickey and Donald ones done in good taste and really good artistic ability but they slapped an order on him Disney has people that have nothing to do but protect their copy write .......

Auctions look very similar to a seller in a similar thread, no-coke-pepsi-24... And they have left each other multiple feedbacks, I smell shills

I noticed that too ibook - good call.

Don't get me wrong - I think a custom machine could be very nice . I've seen some here on this website that are incredible! I just think the ones floating on ebay now look pretty flaky and I imagine the "winners" may not feel like one when they receive their package. Plus the fact they are pretty light in their remarks these are "custom" pieces.

The only customs I think are worth looking at are Dapper Dan's. IMHO

A store at a nearby mall (Merle Hay Mall) had 3 pachislos ... 2 of which were "customs"...one a spin-off Harley Davidson belly glass from a transformed old verson Hanabi he wanted $300 for. He also had the older version Terminator for $495!!!....all three were not in very good condition either.. I had the salesman open one up for me to see inside.

They come and go quite often and it's usually the same ones under different names.

If I'm not mistaken this particular dirtbag from Beaumont TX. has been doing this awhile under different names. Same junk mind you just different names. He was swiping Dapper Dan's pictures and using them to make customes a couple of years ago, he had someone in Louisiana working with him. That guy bugged out pretty quick leaving this sleezebag on his own.

I remember in college my graphic design professor told us that if we alter an image in any way, it now becomes ours. It does not seem right, but its a small loophole. I would imagine there are some restrictions. I don't think alot of the larger companies bother with the small amount of customized products. Its not worth there time.
