Okay,

I've got a local guy from whom I can pick up this machine - potentially, very cheaply. It's on ebay from a relative ebay virgin, so I want to trust it. Whatchyall think?

If it's local and you can see it first, then the decision should be easy. If it looks and works ok. Buy it. If it's reasonable, the savings in shipping alone should make it worth the chance.

All machines are fun in their own way. A local pickup would definitely be a plus.
I've never played that one, so can't help you more than that.

If it's local and the price is good then I'd say to go for it for most machines, if you find you don't like it, you can always sell it on to someone else.

Personally, I'd love to find a Lupin 3rd at a good price over here, as I'm a big fan of the series and pretty much any other anime that Hayao Miyazaki/Studio Ghibli have got involved with.

There are several incarnations of this theme, it also depends on how modern you want. The most recent one comes in 3 versions.

If it's in good condition and the price is right, I wouldn't hesitate. All titles in that series are excellent in gameplay, style, and very faithful to the theme of the anime.

That's the first machine in the series and the reason I have this username (that machine gave me my first US$1000+ pachinko win).

Great machine and I'd grab it for obviously biased reasons.
