Skype testers needed!

What horrible timing to do this... I am now going to have to go out, the day after Thanksgiving, in those god awful crowds, to pick up a headset!

I'll use the internet in my pajamas at 5AM... or else send the wife.

At least the Radio Shack won't be TOO crowded.
But even though they will have THIS ONE on Black Friday for $9.99, I'd definitely pass on it... based on the reviews it's getting.

Thanks? It says it comes with a Skype CD. Is this something I need and need to look for. Thanks for your patience with my computer accessory knowledge!

You can download the Skype software for free from their website.

Some "Skype approved" accessories will come with a card for 30 minutes of long distance (computer to telephone), but since that's free anyway until the end of the year it's not an issue. Plus, the value of 30 minutes of free LD on Skype is less than a buck. I think it's something like 2.1 cents per minute (within the US)???

The only reason I needed the CD that came with my USB phone was for the drivers. The version of Skype on it was already outdated.

For the MAC people, I just used my stereo headphones and the internal mic built into the MAC. On my end it was fine, but the others on line could not hear me as well, so I'll probably pic up an external mic to aid that.

I use the microphone on my Logiteck camera. It works great. Also, Sype has a video function that surpasses anyones I've ever used.

I see no reason why not TJ. in this case since you don't have a mic, you could use your speakers because there will be no echo without one.
Plus if you have someone on your contact list that is in there you could open a chat window and type in things and I believe most any of us would relay the message verbally to the rest of the group.

Just hold a glass against the computer, and press your ear against the bottom side.
Just kidding... and it looks like you've found a relay person if we fire up a conference before you get your headset.
You guys will just need to exchange contact information, and then can text communicate outside of the conference room... while you're still listening.

But we know you're not mic shy... and we're looking forward to your voice as soon as possible. We need another former radioman in there, bud.

Besides... guess who's in the back of my mind for one of our first live interviews... hmmmm???

Well I got it installed and running..... however.... I need a headset... and since I am heading down to Arizona this weekend... it will have to wait till next week.
