[EDIT - This thread has either "evolved" or "mutated" from topic, and might be better now on it's own. It was split from a Dragon Dice troubleshooting question, after a solution was found - logicprobe]

Alston: i'm a fan of the arm, BUT, certain machines should be left intact.

ha thats a good one there all just machines its a persons view that makes them special not the actual wiring and circuitry .... Some people have been taking the creative writing in the ads for there machines a little to close to heart .To a few a million god is a great machine albeit a very few ,OK only Eddie but point is made none the less !!! if thats what they want it will be done , thats what makes the hobby so interesting . Even super black jacks have had arms added now where would you draw the line ? Besides a number of skill stop machines have always had arms look at any number of vintage machines its only the Japanese that don't and thats because of space limitations and nothing else ......

Who uses them playing modern American slots, anyway?
They're just a comfort factor, to fool players into thinking they're not playing a computer game. They let the player think they still have SOME kind of control over the outcome.
I wouldn't be surprised to see slot arms go the way of the coin hopper someday... extinct.
It's just a battle between the psychology of player "comfort" vs. having more machines in a casino due to a smaller footprint. My bet is on more machines and more profit for casinos.

As for drawing the line for a pachislo mod?
Not sure... but Harley, Spin Luck, and Dragon Dice are three that would DEFINITELY be above it, IMO. Too classic, and too rare to be in anything but their orignal form.

Alstonj, you're promoting pachi-sacralige here, you devil.

Putting a pull arm ,which from my observation at Yonkers Racino's new machines are obsolete, on a timeless, worldwide distributed, pachislo machine such as Million God would be tantamount to putting arms on the VENUS de MILO!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pachislos originally had arms, they were mechanical and needed them to spin the reels...now that they are not needed anymore and are gone from pachis why put them back??? It just seems like putting a crank on the front of your modern car and hooking it up to start the car instead of the key...Don't make no sense to me.

I guess I should point out that I couldn't care less if someone wants to put an arm on their pachi......but I think anyone that talks someone into putting an arm on a Dragon Dice should be banned.

Having verifiable forum support certainly makes this one an interesting prospect...

MrGneiss Quote "they were mechanical and needed them to spin the reels...now that they are not needed anymore and are gone " famous last words. Remember that when your playing your 8-liner cherry master inspired machine in a few years Watching the video of reels turning on the screen as the reels are no longer needed (there just a dumb terminal showing results anyway) as they are just representation of the mechanical reels giving a false hope that you have a random chance of winning when in fact the machine cut you off at the knees after you hit the spin knob .same goes for tokens and everything you like best about the machine your playing now .
