Default Weird problems with two machines!!

I am in the process of setting up shop for a party when all of the sudden I encountered problems with two of my machines.

The first was Star Wars. I turned it on and R2 just was going nuts and no video on screen. The other was my Texas Western machine which the reels were not lite or the LCD was not active. I probed around in the machine (not knowing anything mind you) and All I did was remove loose balls located in nooks and crannies. All machines are in wooden cabinets.

Can the pachinko balls cause a short in the machine? Cause for the life of me I really can't figure out what I did to get them back in working condition.

With the machine unplugged. try checking all the cable connections. Wiggle them a bit or disconnect and reconnect them just to make sure you have a good connection.

    That's always good for starters.

usually a reset does the trick, I found if it doesn't reset the first time try it again.

if you can't find a reset button, It could be as simple as unplugging it and plugging it back in a few times .

With my Aqua Pairadice when I first turn it one it always goes through a diagnostic (take a good 5 min). When it done I turn it off, count to 5 and turn it right back on. Hope this helps.

The Star Wars blank screen with R2 going nuts, has been seen before and is kind of a known issue with some machines (in the UK at least). If you leave it turned on until R2 has finished doing his dance, then turn it off then back on again, it seems to work fine.

On my Star Wars it seems to be related to the ambient temperature, but once it's warmed up a bit then it's OK. I've done a few experiments and I'd got pretty close to tracking down which component is causing the problem, when I broke one of the sockets on the video board So my experiments have been put on hold until I get a replacement socket sorted out.

I've got a couple of other Sankyo machines that don't like it when it's really cold, but Star Wars is easily the most sensitive. Never seen any of these type of problems with other makes though.

Thanks alot folks. I left SW on and R2 wasen't moving when I returned then I switched in off then back on and it's fine. Kind of worked out for me in a round about way. Texas Western seems to be working great also. ::Wipes sweat from brow:: That's a relief!!!

My Star Wars did that when I first took it out of the box. The manual that came with it said it might happen if its off for a long period of time. I did what the instructions said. I turned the game off, pushed the reset, powered back on the game while holding the reset in for another 3 seconds and everything was fine. Everythings been fine since.
