there are cheaper machines on the market (ready Systems)

and if your not handy with wood there are wood kits available and then you just add the PC part.

id suggest DIY it will give you a great sense of accomplishment.. that and the PC parts you need are pretty cheap since you dont need the latest greatest processor motherboard to play the old Arcade Games.. A pentium II with some memory and your pretty much set..

Yup, DIY is the way to go, at least you can pick your compenents on your own, and get the machine you want the first time around.

BTW, to any other mame guys in here, I just added 2 49way joys with the gpwiz49 interface, these things are great!
Switches mappings between 2-4-8-diag way on game launch based on what the game handles. No more need for a dedicated 4way anymore

I built one in March an only spent around $1100!!! Every part was brand new including the PC and 27" TV..

It has over 6000 games on it, have not had time to look at them all yet.

Here are some pics of my Mame system:

The pinball machine is a Checkpoint by Dataeast.

Drove 400 miles to get it last November. It took me 5 years to find a good machine.

Here is a better pic of it.
