Are Pachi's any more "skill" than other slot machines?

As a relative newcomer to the excellent world of Pachislo's and Pachinko's, I have made an observation, and wonder what other people's thoughts are on this.
I understand the buttons on Pachislo's to stop the reels give a feeling that the player is in control of where the reels stop - ie; there is some degree of skill. However, after playing the machines a while, it is obvious that this cannot be the case. For example, when you are in a bonus round, the machine "fixes" it so every spin is a winner. Therefore, it seems logical that the machihne can also "fix it" so any particular go is a loser. In addition to this, the machines have percentages to make up like any machine, so presumable if you placed a machine for long enough, you should win the same whether you try and use any skill or whether you just hit the buttons randomly.
Sorry if this has been covered, or whether this is obvious, I just wondered what other people thought.
It seems that if there really is no skill, the buttons on the front do not really add anything - but I guess I might be wrong or missing something ;o)
