The eBay, listing is for the 2005 model and goes for $100 to $200 on YJA. The 2006 model version, the sequel is still $400+. Both models are runaway hits in Japan with lots to keep you entertained.

There is a typo in my first post. The original CR Neon Genesis Evangelion was launched in late 2004, not 2005.

There have been over 120,000 units of the original sold and now over 160,000 units of the sequel have been made. Both are very big numbers for a pachinko model.

Ahhh.. this is temping for me... I really want to have an Evangelion Machine eventually. But as always I would need to find room for it.

Does anyone know what the main differences are from the 1st version and the new one (second impact I believe it is called)? Is it just a visual update?

    Thanks

“CR Neon Genesis Evangelion: Second Impact” is the evolutionary sequel to the hit product “CR Neon Genesis Evangelion”, a machine whose continuing popularity is based on its incorporation of characters from the megahit animated film “Neon Genesis Evangelion.”

“Second Impact” builds on the concept of the earlier machine but offers an even more dynamic expression of the world of “Neon Genesis Evangelion,” delivering new and fully animated story elements that faithfully recall many more of the famous scenes from the original film.

In addition, game play has been enhanced with the addition of a new Kakusei (“Awakened”) mode, further refinements to the Mission mode, and a variety of exciting pre-jackpot displays, making it an even more formidable product than its long-running hit predecessor. In addition, for the background music announcing a jackpot, the theme song “Cruel Angel’s Thesis” has been joined in this new version by the song “Soul’s Refrain.”
