It's overboard, alright.

I knew about the changes in PA schools regarding the soda, and understood it somewhat.
I've seen kids "chug" 4 or 5 Pepsi's or Mountain Dew's in a row, to get a caffeine buzz.
But I've never seen them do it with obesity in mind.

And that "No sweets in schools" rule is hitting home, too.
My grandson will be 6 this week, and we have been given notice that we may NOT bring cupcakes to his kindergarten class for a party... only "healthy" snacks.

I'm really tired of this crap. I don't smoke but if you want to then by all means enjoy yourself just don't ask me to pay for your heath care. And this food thing has been coming for awhile. So. if this dumb a$$ wants to sue the *******s then I think we should all sue him for infringement of our freedoms. My choice is to eat the fat ladened cheeseburger. If I want tufu and bean sprouts on it so be it. Who the hell died and left these idiots in charge and where do they get off telling us what we should or shouldn't do. Some of us are sheep and like to be told what we can can not do...it's easy and brainless... don't have to think anymore. I for one am not a sheep and I take full responsibility for my actions. As a chubby girl, I am starting to get scared...they are brainwashing the masses that it is permissible to look down on the overweight just as they did with the smokers. That is what the end result will be even if that is not what was intended. I am all for education and putting information out there, but I am more for using that information in a way that suits me. Will I end up being a burden to society because of my "unhealthy" choices,...perhaps.
Will I get a tumor from talking on a cell phone, who knows?, perhaps a deadly virus from a mosquito bite or skin cancer from laying on a beautiful beach? There are no guarantees in life, that fact is, we will all face our own mortality someday.

If they want to legislate the food industry, fine, but let them first take care of issues like making sure the food supply is not comtaminated with fecal matter!!! I just got the urge to eat a nice healthy spinach salad, anyone care to join me? Rant over!

OI had a problem when I was younger - I was too skinny - I just couldn't put weight on....and I was very unhappy

But having children gives you a few curves and I would be sorry to see a couple of those go and I am now much happier!

Life is stressful enough without other peoples idea of beauty being forced upon us through the media on a daily basis - it's about time they backed off.

The trouble is that it's as much to do with your genes as to how high a risk you might be of getting heart disease, diabetes, lung cancer, etc, but instead of introducing a programme to test whether you're more at risk of getting any of these, they just tell everyone that they should eat less fatty food, smoke less or drink less. Some people have smoked 40 a day or eaten 'bad' food or their lives, but lived well into their nineties. Me, I don't smoke and generally eat well, but hate the fact that when I do eat 'bad' food, I get a pang of guilt, all because of these do gooders. Grrrrrr!

Americans and their children are becoming more obese, and it is not the schools fault nor the food industry, the healthy foods are out there just as they always have.
So who is to blame?? is anyone?
Who teaches children what to eat? Who feeds the morbidly obese people, the ones who can't leave their house?
I work at a community college and see a thick slice of the next generation in my school every year. We are losing our smarts, our wileyness our ingenuity and even common sense.
Do you know what the biggest most popular career path is today?
Science, nope,
health care, this is actually over capacity with a long waiting list and obvious need, but no,
manufacturing? why bother these jobs are going to China anyway. Engineering, no India is cranking out thousands of well trained low pay people.
The standing room only class' filled over capacity is in video game design.
America is becoming a land of not the best and brightest, nor the ones with the moxie to go get it done. We are creating a generation of couch potatoes, living soft and easy.
I think Teddy Rosevelt or churchill said we, as a nation, are doomed by easy living.
Sorry friends for the previous rant. I hope I did not bore or offend anyone.
