doc's right the machine is authentic and is a 100 volt machine and should be ok once you locate a new power supply as for the voltage converter plug it in and put a meter on it and make sure the output is 100=120 volts before plugging the new machine into it .if its correct put some super glue in the switch so it hardens and is un switchable and you wont need to worry about it again . The component that's blown up in your pics is an overvoltage protection device. It's designed to absorb small voltage spikes, and if a major overvoltage occurs, it should go short circuit and (hopefully) will blow the main fuse (or the one in the power supply feeding it).

If it's completely blown apart, then the overvoltage might have been a little too much for it. But if the main fuse has blown, it might be worth checking the bridge rectifiers for shorts, clipping the blown component out and popping in a new fuse to see if it still works.

Hi Daverob, thanks for the info, I can find no user removable fuses in the mains box or any on the outside surface of the box, (the kind you see under a screw cap), there are however 3 white unmarked fuses hard wired to the board F1 and F2 marked as T10AH 250v and F3 marked as T3.15AH 250v , Im asumming these have blown to protect the board as no other components seem to be VISABLY effected, the external power supply I used is still working and outputting 110v checked with a meter, in your opinion is this a fixer or better to go for a replacement, its going to cost either way, iv handled many obvious repairs in the past but Im not clued up enough to check all the components with a meter, any advice would be warmly welcomed,CHEERS

you can run a continuity check accross the fuses to see if they have blown as a start wich is easy give us a shout if you need a hand

the cost of a new power supply should be very reasonable id go that route first (its also the guaranteed working option) then you can look at that unit for the part number of those that are obviously obliterated now on the bad one .then repair it for a spare .as for the fuses most likely their blown and will need replacement . as doc said just put a ohm meter across them with the unit unplugged from the machine so there is no other path for the meter to follow .
