    Default I Am Very Interested

I was wondering if anyone knew of someone who makes custom pachinko machines. I would like a Scooby Doo And The Simpsons machine made. Or information on how to do it myself. I really want one and am willing to spend the extra money.

    Thank You

Pachinko or Pachislo? Pachinko is impossible to change unless it is a very basic vintage.

I was thinking a vintage pachinko...

I would mostly just want to change the background. And a few extra touches. You know make it look new, but simple. What do you think? Is it possible?

I just love The Simpsons and Scooby Doo... I wish they made the machine so I would not have to go through all the trouble.

I think I remember there was a pic of a Spider Man custom vintage on PT last year some time, so I guess it's possible.

    All my guesses:

Get a machine with the least in the center feature (unless you can get something that goes with the theme you want), then it's a matter of removing all the nails, plastic pieces and ball rail. Then place paper on the playfield and trace any openings and nail holes. Scan this into a computer, clean it up a bit and apply your graphics to that. Print it out on good material, cut any openings and punch all the nail holes. Then a thin sheet of lexan over that would protect the graphic from the balls. Replace all pieces you removed and viola! A custom pachi. I've heard it's been done, haven't done it myself.

    thin sheet of lexan?

But yea that sounds easy enough. Except getting all the nails out. But I draw pretty good and I would just draw it on a white peice of paper big enough and then marker it in with the right colors. And then put that lexan over it. But how would the nails go through the lexan? I really do not know what I am doing but you are a great deal of help.

    Thank You

You could drill them. It would keep it from dimpling if they were just poked them through.

I think the nails have a light screw thread to them. Not sure which way, but be sure to slightly twist as you pull them out.

Oh, another important thing, measure how far they stick out so you put them back the same distance!

Just went and pulled one out of one of mine (also just counted, about 290 nails!):

I considered a similar thing to hide badlt stained play field.
I was considering clear contact paper as a cover, pinballers use a mylar covering.

Ok Cool This Is Going To Be Fun. I Will Send Pictures When I Get Done With It. I First Need To Get An Older Pachinko That Is In Good Enough Condition To Keep And Restore The Way I Really Plan To Do This. It Should Look Quite Clean And "Fresh" When It Is Completed. I Might Be Asking You Some More Questions Along The Way If You Do Not Mind.

    Thank Again

Might I recommend a Nishijin with semicyclic action. these play great. And often have been loved to death or cleaned and badly stained. I had a line on a functionally good machine but badly stained from a private seller.

    Wow,

I like it. Good idea. I think that this will look really cool when it is all done. I just wish there was a kit or something I could buy so I knew everything I was doing step by step. Good thing I have you guys here!

these are some of the tips I was given:
Take many clear pictures as you dissassemble.
label everything. if your nervous about re-assembling then.
make a paper map of the playfield, freezerpaper works. Even better is #10 drafting velum it is semi-transparent and you can see to mark out the holes and tulips. This is availble at ad drafting supply store, Tsquare etc, check yellow pages for your area.
As long as your in a drafting supply area check out the drafting mylar, I have not tried this. The mylar we used is not clear it has a frosted look. might be able to get clear mylar and put if over a nice poster that has the look and theme your going for. Services are available to re-size existing artwork for this. just need a place with a large format color scanner an large format color printer/plotter same drafting store usually.
Post in progress pics and of course the final project!!
    best of luck, have fun!

This is what I was thinking of, I don't have a pic, but I remember it being a vintage with a spiderman movie pic for the play field.
