Thunderzone not paying out?

I've had this machine for some months and never realized just how fun it is until the other day.

Anyway, I noticed that it's paying out. Instead the "shot" ball just goes to the return and doesn't seem to trip the winning switch. I opened it and it looks like the place where the balls go has 2 "alleys" I can get the balls out of the alley closest by pressing the switch to release them. How do you get the balls going to the payout "alley" out. I can't seem to find a switch?

try reseating the connection to the payout motor, that may help.

Greg (Arbycoffee) posted some pics of Thunderzone in the museum. There are a couple pics of the payout motor (they're labelled "Ball Counter"). On one picture you can see the wires right above the ball counter. You might try unplugging and replugging that connector.

The only way I know of to get the balls out of there is to press the release latch, open the little door, and use your finger to drop the balls one by one.

This will make more sense if you look at Greg's pictures.

Are any of the other pockets paying out? Drop some balls into the other pockets to check. If those pockets pay out, you might just have a dirty sensor for the start pocket.

Ok, I unscrewed the housing that leads to the payout motor which allowed me to remove a piece of wood blocking the payout motor. None of the payouts were working. At least I'm learning the innards of these machines.
