Will these radio shack volume controls work?

Do I need to special order volume controls I have seen for pachinko machines, or will this work? Its been 15 years since I had an electronics class.

Or is there somthing else I can just pick up at radio shack or an electronics store?

Otherwise stuffing socks between the speaker and front cover works well on Star Wars.

check out autoslots, Arby posted one on a board that loks easy to solder.
do a search on sound control from above link you will have plenty on advice. You will need a POT for each speaker, some Lpads are dual so 1 does 2 speakers.

These are the syscom pots that were recommended to me and I have only used these. They are very easy to install ( I had never soldered before) and even though you have to adjust the volume of each speaker separately they work great. Pachislo.com has great shipping. I usually get mine in the mail within two or three days.

You will one for each of your speakers.

Droog... the potentiometers (volume controls) that you linked to are way too large of a resistance. 100K (100,000 ohms) wouldn't allow you very much room for adjustment... if any at all.

You've got the right advice from the others... but avoid the ones you linked to.

I am looking at the ones suggested for $15 for 5 pieces. I need two I guess, one for each speaker. Question is - do you get 5 complete assemblies, or will I need to order two for $30 total? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Speaking of Volume Controls for a "Julie" can someone tell me where and what circuit board in the back of "Julie" the speakers plug into. The back of the speakers themselves are covered so I cant seem to trace the speaker wires to see where they go without taking the machine partially apart.

Just open the front door up and you'll see the speakers right there. Here are my two volume controls tucked up behind the door together. The green and blue plugs coming off the pictured board are the right and left speaker wire connectors.

You can access the speaker wires for volume controller installation from the front. Just open the cell door and you can see the wires there right next to each speaker. It makes adjusting the volume much easier going in from the front.

Thanks a lot guys. I didnt realize that the front glass opened up seperately when you turned the key the other way. Once I figured it out it was simple to add the volume controls.

you can also open the lower part of the door also,

turn key left and open glass, then look for a small lever on the bottom part of the cell. press it down and the bottom will swing open.

I ordered these and yes, they got here way before Julie, but I gotta question!
They look nothing like I was expecting. I thought they would be on a board or have wires, I got a baggy full of these, in pic.
Can someone please tell me what I need to do? How do I install? Do I use wire, if so what AWG?

solder on to teh middle leg and the outside leg a peice of cable same gage as the frames speaker wire then clip the red speaker wire and solder in between the 2 cables off the volume controle

i've just been cutting the red wire and soldering them in place they work fine. there are only two leads on these

What these guys said the third connector is already snipped off, If you know how to tin and solder you will be OK. for a pro look don't forget the tiny heat shrink goes on before soldering together. And always tin first, then connect the dots, use as little heat as possible I suspect some overheating and burning has occurred on some of these failing controls, not mentioning any names.
