Default difference between a reset of a machine and a major problem

i came home from work today to find my beloved hanabi hyakkei dark except for its belly glass light. my wife had informed me that the thunderstorms had knocked out the power a few times which knocked out the computer and cable (utility company was repairing a downed cable down the street on my way home) but that she didn't notice the machine was out . i turned off the power to the machine a few times got no response all the LEDs on the mother board were dark . so i took the power supply out and tested the built in fuses and everything worked fine . so i replugged in the machine . same condition existed so as a last resort before digging into the machine with the meter i did a full reset on the machine and what do you know it came to life ..... i had to reset the odds to get it up and running but it was running none the less . the moral of the story if it weren't for the surge protector that the machine was on this unit probably would have been toast i can only imagine what happened to confuse the machine settings enough to make act this way but I'm sure without the protector it would have been 10 fold worse ......Get those machines protected people they are computer devices and need protection form the power companies ....by the way simply turning off the machine doesnt protect your machine either unless you unplug it

Jeff Don't you leave your machines on? I had the on/off/on cycle mess up my tv during a thunderstorm also, unplugged it from the surge strip and waited for it to pass, came back alive as well.
Absolutly positivly have surge and breaker protection for all electronic equiment that you value!
I am glad you machine did not get hurt.
