    Jeff,

I don't doubt you have it working, but question on how many models that method will work with. In my experience, you have to manipulate at least 2 separate coin sensor lines with specific timing in order not to generate coin errors.

If someone can figure out how to do it with one switch, more power to them!

These are tricky, I had problems with making good connections on the small wire and had a boat load of errors. So heck yes these can be difficult to mod. Timing and good connections are everything. The chip is less than $10 so if you are froggy and can solder small stuff just but the DIY kit and do 53 credits at a pop.
We love this on our games, makes them more fun!

the switches ive installed were on vintage games like my super bunny girl and american richman they each only have one sensor thats why i ask the questions about wiring and the number of sensors as for those with more yes you have to manipulate all the sensors weather that be 1,2 or 3 the question is is there a simple way to do this im sure it can be done with a series of cheap relays using a switch to activate the first and using it to activate the second and the second to activate the third ( a simple cascade ) if need be its just a matter of timing . as for the reason you have to cut the wires on the one machine its because it a diffrent signal system some are low and go high and some are high and have to go low for those you will need to interrupt the flow and vinces mod does that .as for applying the meter leads to check voltages i use a very thin wire threaded into the connector then reassemble the connector and wrap the other end on my lead that way you get an excellent connection .if you want easy dont try modding, it takes time and patients to come up with mods. im sure vince didnt do it in seconds either ask him . your benifiting from alot of time spent working with these machines trial and many many errors to get a proven method and just like people all these machines arent one size fits all .I commend vince on his achievements it takes alot of guts to dig into these machines to figure out how they really work (considering that theres no schematics to work with) and few take the time to do it ......

Well put Jeff! I have a summary of where to connect to the coin sensors on my page at www.autoslot.info/credit.htm

There are still many brands I have not got my hands on to figure out the coin sensor wiring, so if anyone has information on these, let me know and I will update the table.

    Vince and Jeff,

Thanks for all the information. I decided this was way over my head to try and do this myself. I'm going to take advantage of all Vince's knowledge and experience and purchase auto stop / auto credit units for my 5 modern pachislos.

I also own a vintage pachislo, that I bought back in 1996, so it's probably 15 years old or so. I was thinking of trying Jeff's simple free play button on that one.

From what I gather if it only has one coin sensor then it should be pretty simple to wire in the free play push button switch (I'm not interested in auto stop). Is there an easy way to tell if this machine only has one coin sensor? The machine is made by Universal and the name on the belly glass says "ORIENTAL".

    What do you think?

yes the coin acceptor usually has three wires coming from it b+,b- and switch leg or trigger wire . if it has 4 then there is probably 2 sensors . 5 three sensors .if you take some pictures ill tell ya better .....

    Hello eveyone,
I'm new to this forum and hope no one finds offense in this, I just wonder why one would want to add a credit switch in the first place. I rather like feeding tokens into the coin mech and it's not like it is a difficult task. The only benefit I see to this mod is if there is a severe lacking in tokens to keep the hopper full....Maybe I'm missing something?

Hi and welcome to the group.

The best answer to that question is that in some states it is illegal for a machine to work with coin like objects because the powers that be think that if you have 1% indian blood and the know how you can convert them to quarters and start your own casino for about $200. Little balls or tickets are OK in most states with a Chuck E' Cheese. If there is cheese you can chinko.

Making it work on free play in their eyes turns it into a toy piggy bank like the ones you see at wal-mart that run on AA or C cell batteries. This is mostly in western states in the US. California and Washington come to mind.

the reason is some people dont like fooling with tokens or quarters for that matter they think its an obslete tradition that should be gone with the dinosaurs (the owner of the board for one) but most do like the noise of tokens falling in the tray ,a mod like this does take care of those people same as a free play button on a pinball machine or any other amusement machine .

    Jeff,
Don't confuse using tokens vs using real money. Nowhere on this board has Tulsa (or most anyone not living in California) stated that token play is an obsolete tradition that should be gone with the dinosaurs.
We do not condone the conversion to real money as it makes these machine illegal in many states, if converted that way.
Yes many like the free credit mod, so they don't have to continually open the machine for more tokens. This is most used when children are involved and makes it easier for a parent.

Careful where you step my friend, putting words in others mouths is another thing we don't appreciate.

This is my personal opinion, or of the voices in my head, and are not meant to reflect the opinion of this board.

Tulsa Quote"I would also love to see tokens go away completely. Have a digital register large enough to show your wins and totals would be just fine with me. Combined with Vince's auto-credit mod. While we all generally take great care to clean our tokens, using coins at the casino's is a nasty filthy proposition."

Thanks for the clarification, I didn't consider state by state legal postions.
As for the clink, clink, clink or tokens.......Guess I'm old school and am sorry to see casino's going the way of tickets from tokens. Don't visit Vegas nearly as much as I used to, although the newer machines do sound nicer and have prettier lights, they still don't hold a candle to the Japanese machines.
Free play in just not for me.
