    Default Any info about Hokuto?

I've seen these machines in a few posts but no real good pics or descriptions. I don't see them in the museum. Can anyone give me the lowdown on these?

Yea that's were I first saw them. The pics are so small though you can't see any detail.

What do you guys think of the 3 machine deal that GAKU has. I want a Sinbad and was thinking this might not be a bad deal to pick up 2 extra machines. I wish there was a Aztec legend returns and a Sea Story in that list though.

Email Gaku for the current list. The list on his site is from the begining of June.

I have one and I'm still figuring it all out. The game play is a little different then most pachis as to bonus rounds and such. The ones that Gaku has are realitively new (2005) and very clean. Check with him as to what he has. I find the gameplay and interaction on this game fairly good.

If your looking for another game, may I suggest "Guts". Gaku has them and it is a fun game, big video screen and easy to play. It is all Japanese but that does not distract from the gameplay.

I got this from Gaku a couple weeks ago (big fan of the theme) and there's a lot going on in it. I managed to find a DVD play guide but it's in Japanese and I can only get so much out of it. Here's a little from the DVD and my play experience:

In the main game you are almost always going for bells, and usually the machine wants you to get bells in with a specific order of presses. If I see a watermelon on the first reel I hit I usually try to eye-shoot them. Getting watermelons also signals a mode change but I don't get quite what it is. I think that if you get a cherry in the left reel that means a bonus is possible this spin, or will be coming soon.

The stages seem to have some impact on the chance to get a Battle Bonus going from lowest to highest:

Shin (blonde guy, long hair) (grey sky)
Souther (blonde guy, short hair) (red sky with a pyramid in the background)
Jagi (guy in helmet) (blue sky)
Raoh (guy ken fights during battle bonus) (you'll know this stage because the music will start playing)

I think the result of the fights and of the Battle Bonus are determined by Kenshiro's aura. There's a small, medium and large aura that can come off of him, and the different colors are different strengths.

I'll look this stuff up and give you guys something more complete soon.

I never quite got around to completely figuring out how this machine works but lucky for us I found a guy who's picked it completely apart:

    http://translate.google.com/translat...language_tools

It's Japanese translated into machine-English but it about covers everything that can possibly happen and what that means for your chance of getting a bonus. If you can figure it out, it's VERY helpful stuff. The rest of that site has a lot of info on other pachislos, too. Worth checking out.

Rupan, I've got one question about Hokuto: On the home version (PS2), in that "cheat mode" where they tell you what the machine wants in the corner of the screen, sometimes I'll get this pattern:
    jac-replay-jac
In all the time I've been playing the thing, on the machine and on the PS2, I've never actually been able to hit this pattern, and I have no idea what it does. Can you explain?

DS'es are region-free so you could play it on yours with no problem.

Sorry, I don't have the PS2 version so not sure. I'll play the DS version later and see if I can get that to happen but I don't remember seeing that.

    jac-replay-jac is called 'chance-eye'.
'chance-eye' is lottered by about 1/100 but it has many another pattern...
    for example 'replay-jac-replay'.and so on.

In Japan most of people played hokuto , by middle-right-left.
There is an advantage that it is easy to know getting ('of chance-eye').
It doesn't necessarily appear 'chance-eye' if you play in normal method,left-middle-right.

This game is a favorite of mine - I don't have as in depth a knowledge as Piyo2000 (by far!!) but I'm getting used to it and learning a few tricks.. I know what Sub is saying about the 'cheat mode' - its just an option that allows you to see what pattern of 'left' 'middle' or 'right' is needed for a line of bells to come up.. Looking at how people generally have a routine of going left to right and not randomly I thought this was interesting (not that going randomly improves your chances much anyway!). I prefer to play without the aids (of course) but it is interesting to see the 'mind' of the machine at work.. I play the PSP version and the 'SE' version as well (much harder).. Got the real thing on the way soon!

Is the 'SE' version one of those new type machine that have fewer bonus rounds? I think this is the case what with Japanese law and all.. It is VERY stingy and harder to play but you could still make a profit on it if you were playing for real..
