    Polyurethane comes in several grades, glossiness and even bases.
    Originally it was an oil based finish, with Spar varnish having the best water and UV resistance, it was suggested for use on boats and floors. Thats tough, BUT it has a dark amber coloring, It would turn a white background into an amber color. this is available in high gloss, semi, satin.
    Newer water based poly's are easier to apply, go on milky (nice to see flow) then dries clear. But there is poor UV resistance and lower toughness ( bad for a floor) I think a playfield would need a high toughness as a floor because of the thousands of balls moving along the same path's.

    I am still looking for a donor pachi to attempt a shellac or similar reflow.
