Do you think that they come close to the original color?
They look a little bright in the photo. That might just be the photo.
It looks like they would be cheaper than the 1200 ones you can get in the states even with the shipping.
They look like the same ones. It might just be the way they are mesured in UK as to the way in USA.

I have done mine too and unfortunatly, they are no where near the same colour.. When you compare them, the stock versions are MUCH nicer as they give a much 'richer' colour.

The new ones are a much more bluey white and I find that they make the reels more transparant.. With the old LEDs, when you are 'eye shooting' the red and blue flashes by and you can see a nice 'deep' colour.. But with the new LEDs, they look a lot more 'feint'

However, if you have done all of them, you would never know the difference.. Saying that, if you are used to the old type, then you WILL notice.. But having 18 white LEDs, is certainly an improvement over a mixture of Yellow, Blue and White (as was my case)

As for whether these LEDs are the same as the ones in the US, we discussed this at length in the other thread, and I think the conclusion is that these are the same.. its just the figures which are quoted which my be a little 'optimistic'

I have found no reason NOT to put these in.. But as I said, be aware that the new LEDs don't give quite as 'nice' a glow as the old ones.

    I hope this helps

The original LEDs being RGB apply simple colour absorption , so when the lighs show through the red segments the blue and green is absorbed and the red is reflected , same with the other colours .

Forgive me if I have got this wrong , but I think you will get the idea .

It helps. I just ordered 100 of the LEDs http://www.phenoptix.co.uk/100_Ultra...x-3000-100.htm
I should be able to do 5 machines with all new LEDs for about US$10.00 each with solder.
The LEDs should be here when I get off the ship next time in Late October.
My Sidbed is just started showing some color change in the middle reel and My Hanabi Fireworks is very bad... .almost dark now. There are enough machines close by that I'll be able to get rid of the extras.

to get white in the light spectrum you use red, green and blue . anyone that has had to align color guns in a picture tube knows that. So saying that the colors aren't absorbed by the color segments because its a white led is misleading . the only reason the color doesn't match is because it doesn't make the same intensity of white as the tricolor does much the same as fluorescent tubes have warm white(yellow or pinkish white) and cool white (blue white) so do LEDs .I'm sure given the time and money you could find a closer fit to the originals but is it really worth it . if you hadn't become accustom to the other LEDs you really wouldn't be any wiser and I'm sure over time will become just as good at eye shooting as you were with the other LEDs.the only thing i do caution is going to bright with the LEDs this tends to bleach out the color of the reels as well as make hallows or rings on the reels .

This is mine with the Pirahna replacements. They don't seem to be as bright as what I see in the pic above. That could be the camera though.

Timekeeper I think that your LEDs are too Bright. Unless its the pic the colors are all washed out. The replay symbol on the right reel even dissapears from the light! I used the Pirahnas that Chaz took the pics of and they are very close to what I believe we are all looking for.

it seems to have a halo effect might just be the camera take one with the door closed thats what counts anyway besides the lcd screen on the slot tends to mask the color a bit also .

Look very good indeed. I see the halo effect Alstonj1 is talking about, but thats probably the camera. Its hard to take a digital picture and have it be clear with no flash.

    Nice job Timekeeper!

I agree that the backlight certainly isn't as good as the original (specifically the 'spread' of light), but its still pretty good and certainly acceptable..

My results look very similar to what Timekeeper has shown:
