    Default Magic Party wont shoot

    Hello guys,

Hope you can help me on this one. We have owned a Magic Party Pachinko for about a year. It doesnt get too much play because it is in the garage and often it gets cluttered around it. Anyway today I was playing it and I hit a Fever. Everything was going great but half way through the fever the shooter stopped working. I'm about as noob as you can get with these things. I tried reseting it by holding down the reset button and turning on the unit and wating for the "bing". I have checked the ball path and that seems okay. I have included three pictures of the front cabinet, the error window and the reset switch. Do you guys have any ideas?

dose it make a noise as if the shooter is running but it dosent fire balls if so the shooter may have come loose or need th esesativity ajusting

if it makes no noise then first thing is check the dongle is tight in (looks like an old printer conection on the back) pull it out and reseat it to make sure

    Oh and

Are you holding the whole shooter knob when you try firing. you need to make complete contact.

you can open the glass door and the lower part of the door with a small latch in the front.

you can try a reset by unplugging it or as suggested above unplug the dongle and reset it.

just checked my tomb of knowledge better known as my hardrive and error 8 on the display is translated as N/A so cant help there did it display error 8 befor it may be a harmless error as in it flicks between -and 8 ?? or it could be a CR error wich means you will cure it by reseating the dongle and powering up again if you have another dongle try that one you may have an iffy one if it has been noked or moved a bit hasrshley

I believe that an error code 8 is an "Card Reader not connected fault", so it sounds like the dongle worked it's way loose.

Thanks guys I appreciate the input. I have found three cables that are near the shooter. I have disconnected and reconnected them but still the shooter is dead. A few more questions if I may. I bought the unit from Slotusa. According to their support department via email they think it is the CR wire. Are they talking about the same wire you guys are? What are the chances the shooter has gone bad? If I HAD to get this thing repaired where would I take it? Anyone know of a place in Southern California? Thanks again.

For what it's worth, my Magic Party used to stop shooting in the middle of a fever when the number of balls won seemed to overwhelm it.

I always make sure that, as the payouts mount up, I "drain off" the balls collected in the lower reservoir into a suitable container on my knee as this seems to prevent the problem. In Popeye, Olive yells at you in Japanese when the same thing happens.

I'm sure this won't help but I thought I'd better chuck it in - plenty appliances are reported as broken when they haven't been plugged in.

Thanks Guys it is working! Thanks to you pic and links I had a better idea what to look for. I found the connector on the machine but no dongle present. I started looking around the cabinet then the garage floor. Still no dongle. Then my wife came out to the garage and asked what I was doing. I told her looking for my dongle. After and erotic discussion of what my dongle really was...she steps back into the kitchen reaches down into the trashcan and asks is this it! She had found it on the garage floor and thought it was junk and had thrown it in the trash! LOL!

Thank Arby for the great pics I wish they were up when I got my Popeye last week from Pachislot Station. I had a shooter that wouldn't and after Mark from PS told me that there was a need for the Dongle I opened the Dongle up and had to do a miner surgery on it to fix the diode that had come loose. The pics sure would of helped but Mark talked me through it.
