Default Finished Games room (well almost)

Finally I am in the position to show off my completed games room.. Tonight is the 'Grand Opening' as I have some friends coming round for a swim, BBQ and games night.

I am still missing one Pachislo (Neo Zetz) and my Star Wars is being replaced as its 'tatty' (and also the cabinet for it needs painting).. My TV is also being swapped for a Sony, as the Hyundai that I bought is disappointing.. But other than that, its complete... Oh yes.. I might buy an Xbox 360 too

I think I might have gone a little OTT with the amount of Pachislos, but I can always put them elsewhere in the house if I find that it looks too cluttered.

Other than that, its finished.. They key items are:

    - MAME Cabinet (With 5800+ games)
    - Super Black Jack Pachislo
    - King Camel Pachislo
    - Beast Sapp Pachislo
    - Star Wars Pachinko
    - Neo Zetz (To Follow)
    - Hyundai Q321 LCD TV (To be swapped for a Sony KV32S2010)
    - Fridge (Stocked with Beer and Chocolate)
    - Tohsiba HD DVD Player
    - Xbox
    - PS2
    - "Hot Stuff" UK Fruit Machine
    - iPod with Onstage Base Station

I look forwards to your thoughts

    All the best

    Jon

    Excellent work, Jon!

I know you put in a lot of time, effort, and money into your game room, and it shows!

Well done, sir! Have a cool one on me.

Oh, be sure to post those pictures in the museum too!

I am still undecided about Pachinko.. I only played for a few mins last night because it was just too loud (And I was subconciously put off by its condition).

But frankly, I just don't get it.. Worse still, I can't actually work out what I am ment to do.. The slot in top I am guessing would normally be inaccessible to the player and this would be where the Parlour put in ther balls.. I assume that this the case for the very bottom, as this is where the balls you have played (and lost) fall out.

I am guessing that the player puts his balls (excuse the expression) in the channel under the playing area and his 'winnings' come out just below that.

But I still can't quite fathom what I am ment to do.. But its early days, so I will keep at it. Obviously I can adjust the power to get the balls to go in different areas of the playing area, but then "randomness" takes over and then when you get it in one of the holes, all hell breaks loose.

I think that once I get a 'nice' on and have painted the cabinet, I will be more impressed with it.. But at the moment, if I am honest, I am a little disappointed

I will make sure that my replacement has 'volume controls' and will then be able to play it without waking half of my local town!

Thanks for the feedback about my room. It was a lot of hard work and your comments are greatly appreciated. I just now have to look forwards to the day that I sell the house and have to put the wall back so that its a "4 Bedroom house" again.. I don't know about the US, but in the UK, this makes a huge difference.. Even with a room like mine with 2 doors and everything in place to put back into 2 rooms, people will still look at it as a '3 Bedroomed house' and as such this will have a HUGE affect on the value.

But thats a long way off!

    All the best

    Jon

PS. I always was going to wall mount the TV, but since I wasn't 100% sure where it was going to go when I 'built' the room, I couldn't chase all the cables in.

Even if I could now, I have so many cables going up to it and the gap between the plasterboard and the brickwork is so narrow, that it will be REALLY difficult and will give me little chance for changing it.

So, I am going to leave it on the cabinet for now.. Anyway, that cabinet is really cheap and will only just take the weight of the TV, let alone a Pachislo!

Thumbs up Re: Finished Games room (well almost)

That's a great looking room, well done! Very nice details on the wall paint too. (Note to self: Take a lesson from jw on effective use of space.)

One of the things that I am most please with is the cabinets.. I bought them years ago as a "3 piece set".. There was a wall unit, Dresser and a small bedside table.. They are cream and have (had) and antique pine top and knobs.

After putting them in the room, they looks awful against the chocolate brown walls, so I took them out again, sanded the tops and knobs and painted them brown to match.

Ironically, the wall unit is EXACTLY the same width was 3 Pachislos and has some sturdy drawers underneath to hold tokens and other stuff.. The dressing table is exactly the right width for a Pachinko and Pachislo (Although I am not so keen on this unit as its a bit 'fancy')

Annoyingly, the 3rd piece would have been ideal for one Pachislo, but my ex-wife took that.. She tried to take the other 2 pieces too, but KNEW I would have use for them one-day

Thats where the Neo Zetz is going.. Ironically, that dressing table is exactly wide enough for a Pachinko and Pachiso.

So, thats were my 4th Pachislo is going when it arrives next week.

Neo Zetz has arrived and taken pride of place next to my StarWars.

    Here are the finished pics.

Still got to paint the Star Wars cabinet, get a replacement Star Wars (minus the cigarette burns) and get my TV swapped.. But this is pretty much it.

Thanks for all your support helping me choose my machines.

    Cheers

Well.. I bought a budget TV, as my 'main' room for watching stuff is downstairs and thats where I have my Plasma.

I went for a 32" Hyundai which got good reviews for £600.. My first one came but had a loose aerial socket (I have to use this as I live in a low signal area and have no digital terrestrial TV, so fed the TV from my Sky box)

The 2nd set was "2nd hand".. It had blatently been used and had 4 dead pixels... Clearly someone had bought it, tried it and rejected it.

My 3rd one came, but the picture quality was poor via RF (And it had 3 dead pixels).. So thats gone back.

So I am now stuck with the 2nd one whilst my supplier works out what to do.

Its been 2 weeks and I just struck it luckly.. My neighbour works for a company who has a relationship with Sony.. As such, he has been able to get my a Sony 32" for 35% of of the TRADE price (About £480).

So, my 2nd hand TV is going back (for a full refund) and I am now going to get a Sony in its place... Infact, for that price, I have asked for a 2nd one, for my Bedroom!!

I am obviously not unhappy about that

    Jon
