Brighter isn't always better , watch going to bright with the LEDs or you'll end up with high intensity rings showing through on the reels when operating .this was experimented with also before, remember your back lighting the reel not spot lighting it !!!!!! nothing worse than having to redo a mod due to over endulgence....

    Here is the latest update.
I ordered the LED units on July 17th from www.phenoptix.com . Their post office sent it on July 19. The good ole (worthless) USPS got it here TODAY! Aug 2nd.
Meanwhile, I e-mailed Ben at Phenoptix and they instantly sent a replacement order on July 30th. They took my word for it that the package was indeed lost.
Ben and his Mum are NICE PEOPLE! I E-Mailed Ben and told him the payment for the second package are already sent to him VIA Paypal, explained that the crummy USPS here in the USA was not his fault and therefore I will gladly pay for the second package. Were not talking BIG BUCKS here, but the fact they trusted me, a first time customer at face value.
Trust me on this one, This company is small, but a VERY good one. Great prices, nice people and a great product.
Pictures of the replacement units in a few days.
    Thanks for listening!

That is the board that you will need.....three of them! $59.85
I just did my Hanabi Fireworks myself. Even with all my goof ups of not putting the LEDs in with the right polarity ( I really didn't see those two dots on the LED that go on top when the seating hole of the board is on the bottom) and then having to replace them because I heated them up too hot putting them in and out of the board twice, it only cost $15 to do all 18 LEDs on the three boards. Next time will go a lot smoother.

    Thanks Sailorpatp,
That is a good price but a lot of people can't do this.
For some people they might just like to plug the board in.
    We are a plug-n-play world
I thought this was a Great option.

Oh yeah! http://sailorpatp.com/chat/Smileys/L.../piratebig.gifSome people will not be able to do the replacement of the LEDs but, I just didn't want someone to think that one board will fix the problem.
I can't really tell from the ad but, it looks like those are remade boards with the all white LEDs in. Just changing one board would make the machine look as bad as not changing it.http://sailorpatp.com/chat/Smileys/L...s/crybaby2.gif

I think it's up to the PachiTalk Members to buy 1 or 3 boards.
I didn't say to rush out and buy 3 boards.
ALL I SAID, THIS WAS A GREAT OPTION
    Option being the key word.

Arby's right. Those don't look like they've been reworked at all. They just look like surplus boards that have been tested. The LED packs appear to be the same ones that eventually die.

You're better off getting replacement boards from your vendor using your WARRANTY. Then rework one set with the better LEDs we found. The cost will be around $18 along with some solder work.

You could be right . I tried to blow up the picture to see if it had new LEDs but it just got pixalated.
I guess you could get away with one board pulled out of a parts machine.
I just would not trust it.
I have three Elco Machines with the back of the reel LED board in them and the Fireworks was almost dark. It had 3 out of 18 LEDs working and no white ones The Sindbad machines are doing a lot better for now but they are a year newer machine.
.I wouldn't put old boards in myself because I have watched the LEDs burn out a little bit at a time. Two years down the road and you would be looking at having to do it over. Who knows how many boards will be around then.

This are the ones I got.

If you decide to do the LEDs, There is a thread on how to do it.

    Don't forget:
    1. you need to do All the boards 18 LEDs
    2. LEDs have a polarity...check it ..2 dots on the bulb ...they need to all be in line + -
    3. you will need to clip off some resistors or you will overpower the all white LEDs
    4. don't get the led too hot
    5. get extra
    6. you might need to do some cutting of circuits on the PCB board if you get it too hot de-soldering the old ones
    7. There are several threads on how to do this....all the Elco Big LCD have the same problum....Fireworks...beast sap...others
    8. use the LEDs from the same batch
    9. Don't grab a hot soldering iron by the tip .
I am happy with the way they turned out.

There is just a touch of a halo around the reels as they go by. It looks better than when I got the machine.
You might be able to get rid of that by changing the resistors to a different value. I left the 825 ones in and took out the 750s.
I will be doing my Sindbads the same way when they need it.
The only thing that bothers me at all is that the new LEDs sit 1/8 inch off of the board due to the way they are made.
I didn't want to drill out the board to have them sit flat on the board because I didn't have a spare board if I screwed the old one up.
I know how they are wired now and I guess I could make a whole board from scratch with everything but the plug and I could pull the plug out and hardwire it to the board and it would still have a plug to go into the reel assembly.
