Default How much are tokens "worth" in a Real Parlour?

I understand that "Tokens" don't have a monitary value as such.. But if you go into a real parlour, what do you get for your money and how much are tokens worth?

I had a thought that they might be worth different amounts on in different Parlours or even different machines, but that doesn't make sense, as you could buy them cheap in one place and take them to another parlour and use them on a different machine.

So, I am assuming that the value is fixed, so what is it?

Again, I understand that they arn't worth anything, but I assume that you must walk into a parlour with cash and get some tokens in return.

Any info on this would be appreciated

I would thing that each parlor has its own design on tokens..

so you'd have a tough time cashing out another places tokens.

But if for example they were worth 10p in one parlour and £1 in another (just an example), then you could buy 1000 in one place for £10 and then go to another Parlour where they are worth more and play.. You would be filling their machine with the 'cheap' tokens, but would win THEIRS (as thats whats in the hopper) and could 'cash them in' for a higher value.

This makes me think that they are all the same value and they could be played in each others machines.. Unless I am missing something of course!

no they arnt all the same redemption value but parlours are closley monitored and you would stickout walking in with enough tokens to do any kinda damage to the bank also parlours are said to be closley linked with the mob would you risk upsetting them

they are 50 for 1000 yen or about $10.00 US.

I think all the palour charge the same. but redemption value may vary.

The 'rent' value is always 50 for 1,000Y. You might be able to take a few you bought off YJA and slip them in a machine but I think most parlors have their own minted.

    Balls 'rent' for 4Y ($0.037US), redeem for 2.5 ($0.023US)

    Medals 'rent' for 20Y ($0.183US), redeem for 12.5Y ($0.115US)

Thats the answer I was looking for.. So, they are about 10p each (in English money) which means that they are 30p per play.

In terms of a big bonus payout, assuming that you get 500 tokens, its £50 which isn't bad and certainly enough reason to get excited..

It all makes sense now.. When you understand what they are worth, you start to get a feeling for 'winning' rather than just banging in handfuls of tokens without any regard for their worth!

That's when you get one of these (See attachment).

Counts about 4,000 per minute, prints out a receipt.

    Yeah, I got it bad!!!

Now I just need the medal counter that goes with this.

    Receipt

    Translated

The purple set of numbers (to the left) are the number of Premiums. An interval set by the parlor.
The green numbers (middle) are the actual total.
The yellow set of numbers is the remainder (not enough for another premium)

Say you have 4259 balls (no comments from the peanut gallery please!).
The parlors premium is set for 50.

The purple will say 85, the Green will say 4259, and the yellow will be 9.

If you press the green button, it prints a receipt for the total (4259)
If you press the yellow button, it prints a receipt for 4250 and the remaining 9 are dispensed from the chute in the front. I guess so you can play them if you wish.

That would require that people learn to use search engines.. From my experience, that ain't about to happen anytime soon.

The search engine is a little tricky. When you have 9000 threads and 120000 posts it can take awhile. When I was looking for a link last week for someone, it took me awhile to find it. And I have been here for 17 months. It would be kind of cool, if after a problem was solved in a thread, we changed the header to a name that was more informative. The name of this one pretty much says it all. But there are a lot that are very vague.

If someone sees one that should be renamed for search friendly ease, they only have to let one of the mods or admins know about it and we'll change it.

Again, no offense, but since I said that I replied to the question fairly recently, one could always check my post history. It sure narrows the field down anyway.

Here's the thread that I was referring to in any case:

This has got me thinking.. We 'buy' our tokens for a lot less than you 'rent' them in a Parlour...

What would stop someone 'buying' them and taking them to a parlour, using them to empty a machine and cash in the winnings. After all the tokens you win have a value of about '10p', but the ones we 'own' have a value of about 3p..

What stops you from putting your own tokens in a machine? I am sure that its illegal but that generally doesn't stop people in this world..

I just can't get my head around how you 'police' this.. If you put your own tokens in a machine (Which clearly don't come from that parlour) and then get theirs out, surely its a loop hole which people would exploite.

I am sure I am missing something, but I can't work this out. Please don't get me wrong, I am not even considering this.. I am just trying to work out why this doens't happen!

    Jon

Infact, taking this a step further.. I am guessing that your 'winnings' are counted by a machine.. Why couldn't you just simply pour in your own tokens into the machine, collect a reciept and run of with your winnings?

Infact, making it even easier, why don't people just slip a few 100 tokens in with their winnings.

How would they ever find out? Its not like the tokens look HUGELY different and there are so many parlours that you could spread it around.

Again, to stress, I am not looking to scam, I just want to find out why this isn't common practice.. Are the Japaneese super honest? Or can you not 'buy' tokens over there?
