Default How much are tokens in Japanese Pachislo Parlours and What Prizes?

Excuse my ignorance, but in Japan how much do the pachislo players pay for tokens when entering a parlour? e.g. are they charged per 100, 500, how does it work? secondly, do these charge vary from parlour to parlour?

With the odds set differently on the Pachislo machines, do some parlours have cheaper or dearer prices for token play and do they offer the value of the goods you can win on a par with the token value. So, the easier the odds, the less desirable the prizes, or prizes cost more tokens than normal.

e.g. Parlour 1, its tokens are average price. The prizes are comparible in value as to their retail value and the odds set on the machines are easier to win. e.g. A toaster say, costs 30 bucks and to win one you would need 30 bucks worth of tokens, so they arent giving much away, the priviledge is of course playing the machines and not to make a gain through the prize.

However, parlour 2, its tokens are more expensive, the odds of the machines are tighter, but the prizes are worth a lot more?

How does it all work? what prizes do people win in exchange for tokens? etc
Are there professionals who just play pachislo as to the amount of prizes they can rake off and bung on ebay maybe? Ive just got my first machine, sinbad adventure, and just wondering how it works. I was thinking when playing sinbad adventure the other day, crikey I lost a lot of tokens on a very dry spell and how much would i have spent if i had been playing for real????? Help, be greatful for more info or directed to any threads that have covered this already.

I think its 40 tokens for 1,000 yen, which is about $10.00 US.

The value at exchange for gifts is less.

When you get a machine that keeps going into bonus rounds you can do very good.

One box that has been stuffed to its gills is typically about USD$50-60 in winnings.

Did you make him an offer that he couldn't refuse. After all this is affecting your Pachi career, preaching Million God to the masses, you could have been a contender.

I still have visions of that horse's head under the blankets.

Most people typically take money as their prize. Basically, the tokens/coins are counted by a machine which dispenses a receipt with the total. You bring the receipt to the counter and pick up your prize. If you choose to "exchange" (as it's euphemistically called) the prize for cash, you are given some rectangular chips about the size of a business card. You then have to go to another area outside of the parlor and exchange those chips for cash.

Other prizes can run the gamut: appliances (I got my last rice cooker and toaster oven from pachinko), electronics, videogames, jewelry, clothes, drinks (including beer), food, perfume/cologne, cigarettes, etc.

When is taking the prize over the cash preferred? Would that rice cooker have cost more than taking the cash and shopping for it?

It probably would have cost about the same; the only reason that I got them was the parlor was closer to my apartment so I thought I'd save the time going out to an electronics store. Videogames are worth it but they are starting to get phased out.

Some of the higher value items (jewelry, high-end cosmetic pouches, etc.) are also worth it but the hell if I'm going to tell my girlfriend how and where I got her latest bauble.
