This has been an interesting thread to follow. During a brain cramp that I had, I'd thought It would be possible to take a second shooter motor, hammer and track to lauch balls up into a storage box. A lifter from Pachi parts.

In a game of one-up-manship, don't bring a rubber band to a motor fight,

Smile Re: Ball Lifter - Archimedes Screw

    Yesterday's update!

07-05-2006 02:09 PM drcrippen324 well i tryed the ball lifter theory with a chocolate fountain and its looking good with a little modificaton

07-05-2006 02:09 PM Sid really? so it works!!

07-05-2006 02:11 PM drcrippen324 so far so good the motor is a little fast it thrws the balls away from the screw thats where the modification is gonna have to come in and i havent added any length to the pipe yet but it proves the screw idea works

07-05-2006 02:12 PM drcrippen324 as when i put a ball in the screw at the bottom a split second later it almost took my eye out at the top the speed it poped out

07-05-2006 02:12 PM luckydog reduction tube above the screw????

    07-05-2006 02:12 PM drcrippen324 thats the idea

07-05-2006 02:13 PM drcrippen324 it should happily push the balls up the reqired extra difrence it realy spat them out at me when i placed them in the scew

07-05-2006 02:14 PM Sid Very very cool... so what does one of these chocolate fountains cost ?

07-05-2006 02:15 PM luckydog how about a light dimmer switch to slow down the speed of the screw

07-05-2006 02:17 PM drcrippen324 you can get your hands on one for about £15 up on ebay delivery is £8 in uj so much cheaper than a ball lifter

07-05-2006 02:18 PM drcrippen324 just make sure it is the one with 2 controls on it as some only have on off wich means you have to run the heater and the motor

07-05-2006 02:19 PM drcrippen324 and the screw is plastic but the tube is metal so that may need changing to a length of plastic waste pipe

07-05-2006 02:19 PM drcrippen324 i will tell you if that works when i have plumed in the dish washer as i will have some left over but in theory it will

07-05-2006 02:20 PM drcrippen324 at least we are a bit further forward now

07-05-2006 02:21 PM Sid oh yes indeed.. Bravo doc...

    07-05-2006 02:21 PM luckydog a ball warmer

07-05-2006 02:21 PM drcrippen324 the next stage is to put the waste pipe on with a reduced pipe at the top and then plumb it all into my....poor trusty thunderbirds

This uses a step to hold the ball and lift it up to the top. Like a water wheel.
or a hay lift a conveyerbelt or chain with ball scoops. since the balls are steel could use magnets to hold and a slot or angled wiper at the top.to divert unto a ramp into the tray.
others I have seem use a plastic gear to feed a tube, run the tube where you want. I will look into making nylon gears. I have a freind with a machine shop, and he owes me.might rout groves (12 mm) into nylon cylinder, cutoff to 12mm wde gears drill hole in centert to mount to 24v motor

If I had the extra cash I would gladly purchase a ball lifter from you Arby. Till then I thought trying to figure out a way to do this was a good way for me to stay out of trouble.
