    Default Looking for a part

I just got a couple of 2001 pachinkos, and I am looking for a lcd screen for one of them. It's a Sansei R&D Certain Victory Guide:
    PachiTalk Museum Link
    Company Link

The screen is 5 1/2 inches by 4 inches. Here are a couple of pics, I am sorry that the one is blurry, but no matter how many times I took it, it always was blurry. The circuit board unscrews from the screen, but it's plain silver with vent holes, three adjusment holes and a square raised area off to one side, I figured shiny metal would only glare so no pic.

If anyone can help let me know. Next step is the vendors. I figured I would give you guys a shot first.
    Thanks

Is it just not working at all, or bad pixels/lines?

    Blue can be pretty!

That may be a tough order to fill. It might be the controller board or the lcd. I've found those parts to be very propriatary, I can only wish you the best of luck!

Have you tried fiddling (sorry to be so technical!) with the connections or pressing on the chips while it is on?

Being a computer tech I even removed the three chips from their sockets just to make sure there were all good connections. I played with everything I could but it's behind other stuff when its on. That was the first thing I tried cuz it always works with the computers at work.

If you can searate the lcd itself from all the frameork, you might get a make/model # for just the screen. I hate to say, but I feel it might be the controller, very specal part (spell-tough one to get).

Like I said, blue is a nice, relaxing color!

I've been trying to figure how to fix my Big Powerful Fever-CRT screen, seems to take a while warming up and part of the screen seems 'folded', like the scan lines start part way down the screen, hit the bottom and bunch up. Not sure, but maybe it needs de-guassed.

Yours sounds like a size issue, like on a computer monitor, you can adjust the size. Too big and it folds onto itself.

There are a couple of adjustments on it. Of course, I'm 1961 miles away from home in El Paso going to San Diego (for the National Association of Chain Drug Stores show!)
Some times (most of the time) when it comes on it's just a bright band in the middle, a few lines thick. Then it pops back to semi normal, but about 1/2" below the top and bunched at the bottom.

Have you tried re-soldering the connector(s) at the circuit board? I've found that when my computer monitors start losing one of the color guns, this is often due to a bad/failing solder joint at the circuit board.

Have you tried metering the ribbon cable for continuity or a bad connection?

It's not connected via a solder joint. it's a little flat ribbon cable.

My Fever Big Powerful does the same thing. It started that right before the move.

From the photo, it appears that the ribbon cable has a friction fit into a connector (jack) that is soldered to the circuit board. How is the other end attached to the screen?

I've gotten a few free lcd monitors from work because they were doing the very same thing (blue tint), all of them are working fine now. The edge connector was mis-aligned on 2 of them, cleaned em with alchohol, and reinserted a few times, and good to go.The other was the actual connector the ribbon cable went into, bad solder joint. I'm thinking if you don't get a new screen WITH the circuit board, you'll still be in the same boat. grab a magnifying glass, and really look over those connections. (current computer tech too) (former electronics tech)
    good luck!

On the LCD that displays in blue only, check to see if it has whats called a "Zebra" connector. It's a small piece of silicone rubber with conductive traces in it. It sits on top of a circuit board and conducts from the board traces to the platings on the edge of the LCD.
Clean them with isopropal alcohol.Rub the board clean with a pencil eraser. DO NOT touch the board with your fingers as the skin oil will mess things up in short time.

On the CRT monitor, you have whats called "Foldover". Usually caused by failure of the "Vertical Output Device". Usually a pair of transistors that drives either a coil by the neck, or a set of plates in the tube.Easy and cheap to fix.
If not experianced with high voltage, there are MANY shops that repair them for a flat rate, usually pretty cheap as long as the CRT is still good..Hope this helps...

Well I checked the solder joints, all look good. Little ribbon cable is plugged in right, even flipped it around thinking if one of the wires was broke then the screen would look different, nope still blue. The number on the side of the monitor is LQ6AN101 12007039A.

    Sorry,

The one I could find has a display area of about 2.75 x 3.5 inches. If I remember correctly the other one was the same size.
If I run across it and it's bigger I'll let you know
