Default Laminate issue on Star Wars machine

    Hi,
I am stuck on this one and I was wondering if someone has a creative idea for this problem. One of my customer's laminate chipped off on his Star Wars machine. This white laminate is located on the front foundation of the machine just below the overflow tray/drain. I purchased a huge sheet of laminate and tried cutting a small piece of it to replace the chipped area but it seems to crack when I cut it with a laminate cutter or heavy duty scissors. The laminate that I ordered was very expensive ($45 for a whole sheet) so I would be shocked if it was poor quality. Anyhow, my question to the forum is what do you recommend to fix the chipped laminate? Do I look for thin (linoleum) tile? Should it be sanded off and repainted? Thanks in advance.

If i were to replace laminate on a pachi i would peel off the laminate below the tray and just replace the whole piece.

I must agree with Sparky our most radiest of users. Don't try and patch, replace the whole piece.

A dremel tool with a fiberglass reinforced cutting disc will cut the laminate.

Wear eye protection and mask over nose and mouth.

Especially with white laminate if your try to patch the two pieces you'll see a black line where the two pieces meet, it may be minor but you'll still see it.

Wow it is laminate! I thought it was plastic!

This is my personal opinion, or of the voices in my head, and are not meant to reflect the opinion of this board.

To trim laminate the easy way you do the following

cut a piece of laminte about 1 cm bigger then the size you need around all the edges.

you stick on the laminate to the board you wish to stick it on.. We used to use contact cement.

you will need a file, nothing too rough but nothing too fine.

now using a scrap piece of laminate place it place it behind the excess laminate now file off the excess laminate carefully so you dont chip it..
do this for all 4 edges.

once you are done the laminate should now exceed the edges by they thickness of the laminate that you put behind.

now with the file, file this flush... careful to hold the file steady or you will cause dips...

I hope you understand what im saying..

i have done so many laminate trimmings this way it aint funny a little practice on some scrap and you'll be fine..

Oh and you can remove laminate with quite easily with a Heat gun and a putty knife.

just make sure you scrape away the extra glue underneath when you reapply the new laminate.. or its bumpy.......
