The incidental costs may be high, but the lifelong experience is priceless! I've been very fortunate to watch both of my children become adults, and now get to have fun and play spoiler with my two year old grand daughter. She is already a Pachi addict.

    John,
I married my daughter's mother when my daughter was 5yrs old, I lived with them for 2 yrs before that. Her natural father was abusive and basically useless. Shortly after we got married this little 5 yr old looks up at me and asks if I would be her Daddy. Within a month we started proceedings to get his rights revoked (at that point he hadn't seen her or paid child support for almost a year), and when that was done we proceeded with the adoption. Yes it's expensive and time consuming, but 10 years later I have never regretted it. I dislike my ex-wife, but without going through that hell, I would not be blessed with a daughter who is the light of my life.
You will forget all you went through to get her the first time she looks into your eyes with that "You are my daddy and you will love me forever" look. It's worth all of it.

This is my personal opinion, or of the voices in my head, and are not meant to reflect the opinion of this board.

And when she does like my daughter did today, we were at the wife's mom's house where there are nothing but teenagers running around. she gets knocked down, mother inlaw is there, mom is there.... I hear her crying, inlaw and wife saying come here Zoey and top of all the noise I hear, "daddy, daddy. wan daddy." I walk across the yard take her from the wife and say "Its ok, daddy is here." she stops crying, smiles and lays her head on my shoulder. those are the moments that make you forget about how rough and expensive it was to get your daughter here into your world....

awl........I love that story. I just had my wife read it. She thinks maybe we should have asked for 2 children, one boy and one girl.

As a few of you guys know I have not been about much on Pachitalk recently as we have been moving house & all that brings with it. Anyway we are pretty much settled in & now have a few home comforts such as a phone line & broadband connection, so back on Pachitalk . We moved from a place called Clayton Heights, which is in Bradford, West Yorkshire to a place called Baildon, Shipley - which again is in West Yorkshire.

Why did we move, well for a number of reasons - but a couple of them were better schooling for our children & the other is the location. Walking on foot from the front of the house within less than 5 minutes we are on the moors & the Yorkshire dales. I have attached a few photos, which are of our house (which was a new build & I managed to get a games room built in ), a few pictures of the moors & of our village (& local drinking house - pub)

Look like a wonderful place to live.....

I would be a little worried though, it looks like those people from the pub are driving on the wrong side.
